Unmade
By Sephyr
The sky looms above with an impending look,
Reminding me every second of what it took;
An irredescent glow of resounding anger,
The devilish stare that had always pained her.
I can stare down at her body all day long,
But it's something untold of, a song unsung;
A rainy day swept her away into emptiness,
Swallowing her up into that sacred abyss.
She was the one who created me,
The one who was there to always save me;
And it was I who unmade her,
It was I who refused to save her.
A bout of angst and a flare of emotion,
Wipes over my every nerve like fiery lotion;
Cleansing my arteries of the filth that was there,
But once it's gone I will never be able to share.
I can never share with you all the mysteries,
The painstakingly intricate history,
The anxiety of a millenium compacted,
The hatred of a nation contracted.
I was the pariah, and she gave me a home.
A forgotten messiah, and she gave the soul of her own.
I was the hater, and she taught me to weep.
I can cry later, but the price was still too steep.
Aborted, ignored, abhorred, yet adored,
I remain the image of deep remorse;
Inside of this sorrow is something far down,
The unmaker in me that's wearing the crown.
Inside of me lies the ability to break away,
But beside it awaits a pit of dismay -
Too far gone to look back, I step away,
But I'm dragged back.
Too far along to step down;
I step up and am pushed down.
If only I could've done this sooner than now,
Maybe she would be here still...someway, somehow.
Very well written. ^^ I like the structure and I just... like the rhythm. :3 I especially liked this part:
Aborted, ignored, abhorred, yet adored,
I remain the image of deep remorse;
Inside of this sorrow is something far down,
The unmaker in me that's wearing the crown.
As long as we're outlining favorite quatrains, I prefered:
She was the one who created me,
The one who was there to always save me;
And it was I who unmade her,
It was I who refused to save her.
