A song I wrote for my band ^_^. It's a mixture of death and thrash metal, so I hope you enjoy and tell me what you think.
Dust, Rain, Blood, Fire
By Garrett Luttrell
Lust, greed, hate, anger –
You are a sacramental disaster, inside an apocalyptic festering.
Dust, rain, blood, fire –
You say you’ll sacrifice yourself, but you rebel and scream.
We were promised glory upon entering the world,
But what we got was our own fury.
We swallow our ambitions to give a few others fame,
But we turn around and bitch and complain.
Such an imperfect world we dwell in shouldn’t exist,
We live in a masqueraded abyss.
Corrupt yourself and give me your eye,
So I may try to see through the shit around us,
So I might break through.
Lust, greed, hate, anger –
You are a sacramental disaster, inside an apocalyptic festering.
Dust, rain, blood, fire –
You say you’ll sacrifice yourself, but you rebel and scream.
Electronic pleasures keep me entertained for a while,
But what I need is the real thing.
I’ve got this illusion of my life stuck in my head,
That I’ve forgotten there’s an ending.
The impending gloom of a new world hangs above,
And still we insist on arguing;
Still we must…
Take the step into a new outlook, a new way of thinking.
You’ve bred your own enemy and still pretend to love the offspring.
I’ve taken the sore truth and shoved it in your face,
For you to acknowledge;
For you to be disgraced.
You all claim to have some heavenly grace,
But you tear yourselves to pieces,
And f*ck the debris.
Lust, greed, hate, anger –
You are a sacramental disaster, inside an apocalyptic festering.
Dust, rain, blood, fire –
You say you’ll sacrifice yourself, but it’s just another little lie.
A little lie, a place to hide away from crystalline truth.
A shard of hope once a part of something whole,
Something true.
A remembrance of everything I’m not,
Of all the destruction,
The motherf*cking rot.
A new order to set straight all of your spines,
Sit up at the front,
Don’t fall behind.
A new way to hate me for what I’ve failed to accomplish.
Dust caught in the rain,
Blood in the fire.
I like. I would put my stamp of approval on it, but I would probably never be able to fully wash it off of my monitor.
-claps- Very nice. :3 Well written song like all of your work.
