Welcome to the Fanart Challenges at All That Jazz!
Summary...
The idea of the challenges is based on 50/100 icon challenges, which some of you may know of/have participated in but it doesn't matter if you haven't because these are quite different. How they'll work is that everyone will have to sign up with the chosen subject matter of their choice and then when sign-ups are closed a list of ten prompts will be posted. Five of these prompts will be any sort of simple one word prompts and the other five will be quotes (from films, books, famous sayings, celebrities - anything). You will have to make arts of the subject matter you signed up for based on the prompts given. At the end of the deadline voting will go up for the best entries and the winners will be announced. - And then the process starts all over again.
All the technical details...
1. Only one person can claim one subject when they sign-up. E.g. Say you love 'Twilight' and want to claim it but someone else already has before you signed up then I'm afraid you can't. However, because of this a person may only claim something once so that other people have a chance to claim it in future rounds.
2. The subject matter that you claim in sign-ups could potentially be anything. Examples: a film, actor/actress, musician/band, cartoon, book, tv show, sportsperson, etc. However, you are not allowed to characters/couples from tv shows/films, etc (& neither can you claim real-life couples). Continuing the example above, you wouldn't be able to claim the character 'Edward Cullen' to get around the fact that you missed out on claiming Twilight, but you would be able to claim 'Robert Pattinson' and make some of your arts as him in character as Edward but not all (if you claim an actor you should show them in more than one role and/or real-life otherwise it'd be like you claimed that character). Vague things like stock subjects (e.g. bridges, cities, nature, etc) are also allowed but be careful in choosing a subject like that because sometimes it might be hard to make arts based on the prompts. If you claimed a book that wasn't also a tv series/film you might have trouble making arts with pictures since the only images you would have would be a few book covers, but you could make text-only arts of quotes from your book that relate to the prompt.
3. Sign-ups will usually be open for two weeks. Sometimes we might have them open a bit longer if we get them up earlier, but most of the time it will be about two weeks. Still, the earlier you sign-up the better; there's no limit to the amount of people who can sign up so you won't miss a place if you wait too late but you might miss out on what you wanted to claim.
4. When sign-ups are closed the list of ten prompts will be posted. You will be given five one-word prompts and five quote-prompts. Examples: flower, sorrow, hope, "Curiouser & curiouser" from Alice in Wonderland.
5. You must make ten arts from these prompts - one for each prompt. Arts include icons, banners, wallpapers, colourbars - anything that you want.
6. You will be given one month to make your entries. A thread will be created where you can post your entries once finished (you don't have to wait until the end of the month to post them if you've finished them earlier, but the month is your deadline).
7. Voting will be on all the entries divided into ten categories, one for each prompt. At the end the winners will be announced for the best art made for each prompt.
Important rules....
+ You must make new, fresh arts for the challenges.
+ You must not show your arts to anyone until you've posted them in the entries thread. (You don't have to wait until voting goes up & is closed, just until you've submitted them as entries.)
+ Your entries should fit the prompts given.
+ When voting, you should vote fairly. This includes not voting for yourself, not voting for your friends & not voting for arts just because you like the subject matter. You should vote for the entries that you actually think are of the highest quality and have best expressed the prompt given.
+ You should remember to enter!! - Sometimes real life gets in the way but if you did sign-up you should see it through and finish your entries, especially since not entering after signing up is unfair to anyone who might have otherwise claimed the subject you took. You have a month to make ten arts so you can always start on some as soon as the prompts go up so if you get busier as the month goes by you won't have to make all your entries in a hurry at the last minute.

...and that's it as far as this post goes! Hopefully all the information is clear and it sounds like fun. The first sign-up post will go up in a few days time, I just wanted to post this slightly earlier so that you have time to read through all the info and we can clear up any confusion before getting things started.
:)
I forgot to say these challenges are being run by myself and shadowdxregrets so if you have a query regarding the rules/details but would rather not ask it in this post feel free to pm either one of us with your question. We will get back to you as soon as we can.
Of course even if you don't have any questions leaving a reply in this thread letting us know you're interested in taking part would be great as then we'd get an idea of how many people are going to take part! :)
So after each round do people sign up for a new subject? Or is it multiple rounds using the same subject?
Each round is seperate so you sign up and claim a new subject each time. :)
oh good. I though the same...that you had to chose the same subject every time
Oh no it has to be different everytime. That way everyone gets a chance to try a new thing and no one can hog one particular claim.
Also, the sign-up post is now up to make your claim for Round One:
