B) 7/10- Latest TV Guide Scans

B) 7/10- Latest from TV Guide Can you please tell me when during Season 8 Kristin Kreuk will be back on Smallville? And how many episodes will Lana be in? — Ian Matt: At this early point, all I can say is that KK will not be back for the season opener, since that eppy is already chock full of Justice Leaguing goodness. Kristin will be back, though, for multiple episodes Source: TV Guide

B) 7/10- Episode 8.02 - Plastique Bette has a connection to Level 33.1 or something very much like it. - Roles now being cast, in addition to the role of Bette, include the following: Security Agent, Young Cop, Medic, Tommy, Clerk, and two CSI's. Source: KryptonSite

7/7 - Episode 8.02 - Plastique "Plastique" does indeed involve Bette Sans Souci, the character from the DC Comics universe. In this version she is a "15 year old street kid" who is injured in an explosion, and Chloe asks her to move in. (Thanks to S.A.M. for that tip!) - Contrary to some reports that Chloe will be serving time for a while... in actuality, Chloe will no longer be incarcerated by the time this episode happens. - Justin Hartley (Oliver) and Aaron Ashmore (Jimmy) do not appear in this episode. This episode will explore Clark's first day on his new job and his teaming with Lois.
- The character of paramedic Davis Bloom makes his first appearance in this episode, and he interacts primarily with Chloe. Source: KryptonSite

7/7 - New Villians Cast Sam Witwer and Cassidy Freeman have been cast as series regular villains for Season 8 of Smallville, The CW announced on Thursday night. Witwer, 30, will play Davis Bloome, "a charismatic Metropolis paramedic who -- when he isn't saving people -- is forced to confront a burgeoning darkness inside of him that just might be a harbinger of doom." That creature likely would be the previously announced Doomsday. Freeman will play Tess Mercer. Here's how The CW describes her character: "Handpicked by Lex Luthor to succeed him before he vanished, Tess arrives in Smallville as acting CEO of LuthorCorp. Beneath her mysterious allure lies a cunning ruthlessness to match her mentor's." "We're thrilled that Sam and Cassidy will be joining the cast, and we have some very exciting things in store for them, their characters and Smallville fans for this season," said executive producers Kelly Souders, Brian Peterson, Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer in a joint statement. "They are both incredibly talented performers, and we cannot wait to begin to work with them." Best known for his role as Alex "Crashdown" Quartararo on the Battlestar Galactica, Witwer is also featured in the forthcoming Star Wars: The Force Unleashed video game. His previous credits include Stephen King's The Mist and guest-starring roles on a number of series, including Dexter, Cold Case, Enterprise, Angel, Dark Angel and ER, among others. Freeman previously appeared in the feature film Finishing the Game: The Search for a New Bruce Lee, which debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in 2007. Her other television and motion picture credits include a guest-starring role on Cold Case, the made-for-television movie An Accidental Christmas, the independent film Shades of Gray, and shorts Clock and Razor Sharp. 7/7 - The Justice League Returns Get ready for the return of the Justice League. When Smallville comes back in September, the Super Friends reunite to search for Clark Kent, who went missing in May's season finale after tussling with Lex Luthor at the Fortress of Solitude. Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar have departed (and are currently producing the Hannah Montana movie), so four of the series' longtime producers have taken over for Season 8. "Luckily [Al and Miles'] voices are still talking to us in our heads as we're breaking stories," says Kelly Souders, who is running the show with Brian Peterson, Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer. "Their visions come to us all the time, so I think they did a great job of preparing us for this day." One of the first things the new quartet did was lock in Justin Hartley for at least 12 episodes as Green Arrow/Oliver Queen, a fan favorite who appeared frequently in Season 6 and once last season. He'll start this new chapter by gathering Aquaman and Black Canary to rescue Clark. Alan Ritchson and Alaina Huffman will reprise their roles, as will Phil Morris, whose Martian Manhunter also appears in the opener, titled "Odyssey." This season's theme is "double identities," Souders says. "It's about the Superman identity emerging as Clark Kent tries to maintain a normal life — or the appearance of a normal life." To that end, he takes a job at the Daily Planet, right across the desk from Lois Lane (Erica Durance). "The camaraderie as they work side-by-side that everyone loves from the DC Comics and all the Superman lore is going to come to fruition this year," Souders says. "The two of them are thrown together in some unfortunate situations for Clark. She becomes a little bit of an obstacle to him saving the world, when he's on a deadline." — Rich Sands Source: TV Guide

7/7 - Episode 8.02 - Plastique Episode 8.02 will be called "Plastique".

7/7 - Episode 8.01 - Odyssey The new season begins several months after the events of the Season 7 finale. - Casting is currently underway for "Kat," a young, eager assistant for Tess, who also makes her first appearance in this episode; and "Nikolai," a man who works on a boat with Clark near the Arctic. Roles also now being cast include a Researcher, a Scientist, and a Guard. - Clark is brought home by some possibly-surprising rescuers. - Oliver Queen (Justin Hartley) returns in this episode. The "Researcher," "Scientist," and "Guard" roles are involved with Chloe's storyline. - When Clark returns to Metropolis, he'll have a big surprise for Lois. Source: KS

7/7 - Latest from Kristin Keith in Delaware: Is Smallville going to suck without Michael Rosenbaum this season? I know the answer, I think, but am hoping there is some kind of salvation.
Actually, I'm hearing some very cool things about the new season. The writers are going into more of the Metropolis/Lois-and-Clark storyline and moving away from Smallville. Clark is going to work at the Daily Planet, and with Green Arrow (Justin Hartley) coming back, you can bet your sweet booty that more members of the Justice League will be popping up again. Sounds good, yes? No? Comment below... Source: E!Online

7/7 - The CW's Official Press Release! “SMALLVILLE” BRACES FOR ARRIVAL OF NEW VILLAINS Sam Witwer (“Battlestar Galactica”) and Cassidy Freeman (“Finishing the Game”) Join Cast of Hit Series for Eighth Season This Fall BURBANK, Calif. (June 19, 2008) – Rocked by the mysterious death of Lionel Luthor and the sudden disappearance of his son, Lex, the town of Smallville will be put further on edge this fall with the arrival of two new villains, as Sam Witwer (“Battlestar Galactica”) and Cassidy Freeman (“Finishing the Game: The Search for a New Bruce Lee”) join the cast of “Smallville” (Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW) as series regulars for the hit show’s eighth season. Witwer will play Davis Bloome, a charismatic Metropolis paramedic who – when he isn’t saving people – is forced to confront a burgeoning darkness inside of him that just might be a harbinger of doom. Freeman will play Tess Mercer. Handpicked by Lex Luthor to succeed him before he vanished, Tess arrives in Smallville as acting CEO of LuthorCorp. Beneath her mysterious allure lies a cunning ruthlessness to match her mentor’s. “We’re thrilled that Sam and Cassidy will be joining the cast, and we have some very exciting things in store for them, their characters and ‘Smallville’ fans for this season,” said executive producers Kelly Souders, Brian Peterson, Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer in a joint statement. “They are both incredibly talented performers, and we cannot wait to begin to work with them.” Best known for his role as Alex “Crashdown” Quartararo on the acclaimed series “Battlestar Galactica,” Witwer is also featured in the forthcoming “Star Wars: The Force Unleashed” video game. His previous credits include “Stephen King’s The Mist” (written and directed by Frank Darabont) and guest-starring roles on a number of series, including “Dexter,” “Cold Case,” “Enterprise,” “Angel,” “Dark Angel” and “ER,” among many others. SUPERMAN was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

7/7 - New Cast Members Michael Ausiello(formerly of TV Guide, headed to Entertainment Weekly) Broke News this Week on who will be play the Villians in the upcoming season of Smallville Davis Bloome (who is best known to Battlestar Galactica fans as ex-Raptor ECO Alex “Crashdown” Quartararo,) has been tapped to play the series regular role of Doomsday. Additionally, relative newcomer Cassidy Freeman is joining the cast as Tess, a sexy and vengeful firecracker with whom Lex hires to run his empire in his absence. Ironically, the actress’ most recent credit was the failed CW pilot Austin Golden Hour — starring none other than Green Arrow himself, Justin Hartley (who’s back on Smallville full time next season). In depth descriptions of both characters have been posted below to refresh your memory. Doomsday: Real name: Davis Bloome. He’s in his mid-20s. He works as a bartender at the hip new Metropolis lounge Ace of Clubs. He plays down his smoldering good looks with a self-effacing wit and down-to-earth soulfulness. But he has long felt like an outsider (hence his nickname). And beneath his charismatic, easy-going demeanor lies a brooding sense of isolation and insecurity.
When he begins to delve into the haunting mysteries of his true origins, a darker truth begins to emerge, one of blood and serial murders, one of survival and utter destruction - one in which he is forced to confront the true evil inside of him.” Tess: Drop-dead gorgeous.Roughly 28 years old. She’s determined, sexy, vengeful and has super-strength. “While Lex is away, she is in control of his estate and rules it with aggression. She’s had intellect and the confidence all her life, though it’s obvious she’s had some training from Lex as well. But as much as Lex has helped fortify her power, he is also her biggest weakness. She harbors an undying devotion to Lex, claiming he saved her life a few years ago. She carries out his wishes with coercion, force, seduction - anything to get what she wants. And no one can resist her beguiling ways. Even Clark Kent. She doesn’t remember anything before the day she met Lex. Once she realizes her previous life is buried below the surface, she’s desperate to dig it up.” Source:Michael Ausiello

6/09 - Season 8 Casting: It's official! The CW just confirmed to me that Justin Hartley (Green Arrow/Oliver Queen) has been locked in as a...wait for it...series regular for the upcoming eighth season! According to the show's rep, Justin's storyline will focus on Oliver's past and where he comes from as opposed to his Green alter ego. Good news, yes?
Tom Welling, Kristin Kreuk, Smallville I'm also told that Kristen Kreuk (Lana) will most definitely be back for a batch of episodes—most likely six or seven—but they're still working out the exact number. As for the two new characters—Tess (female villain) and Doomsday (aka Davis Bloome)—they are yet to be cast, according to the CW Source: E!Online

6/09 - Season 8 Rumours: Please note these are unconfirmed rumours......Kristin Kreuk will be appearing in "6 or 7 episodes" Producers are planning on ending her story arc. Laura Vandervoort will not be a series regular next year. However, she may return for a few episodes in the mid season. Erica Durance is contracted 13 episodes this season;look for lois to have a love interest this season and get a little catty with a new female on the show. Clark will learn a new power this season and will get a mid season-love interest that will make lois think twice about him. Phil Morris will be returning as the Martian Manhunter in Season 8 but for only 2 episodes. James Marsters has expressed interest in more appearances as Brainiac. producers feel he will be the villain in the final season but only for the couple of episodes. Michael Rosenbaum will not be returning as a series regular for Season 8 but producers are praying on him returning to the series by the end of the season current plan is for lex to be missing and then reappear as the man behind everything thats not scene. Justin Hartley (Oliver Queen/The Green Arrow) will be returning to Smallville as a series regular this season (as heard from E! news Kristin Dos Santos) but look for the JLA to come back for a least (from a soruces tells me) 3 episodes along with 3 new members !!!! Allison Mack (Chloe) Will Return Next Season for all 22 episodes. and finally a sources close to me has stated that u will see Martha kent again. you will hear a Chloe Say a "Familiar name" this season, someone that she been in contact with and a series rule will be broken....as for when?? late in the seasonSource: Unknown Source

6/03 - Latest from Kristin: David in Tampa, Fla.: Do you have any early scoop for next season on Smallville? Yep! It's not easy being green, but apparently it pays to be Green Arrow. My sources tell me that Justin Hartley will be back on Smallville as Green Arrow/Oliver Queen for the majority of the season. Me = tickled pink. Love that guy. Source: E!Online

5/20 - Jake in San Diego: Any scoop on Doomsday from Smallville? Looks like Davis Bloome aka Doomsday is forming quite an interesting relationship with one Miss Lois Lane! Sources tell me the first time we meet Davis is when he is attempting to pick up Lois at Ace of Clubs. Still, don't expect things to get too steamy between the couple—I'm also hearing that Davis Bloome is something of a Jekyll and Hyde. Tanya in Kalamazoo, Mich.: Give me some Clois scoop, please! Could it finally be happening now that Lana is out of the picture?! I'm hearing that during a conversation Lois admits that she is constantly thinking about a man who is described as "confusing, mysterious and oddly sexy." Huh! I don't know about you, but those words definitely scream Clark Kent to me! Source: E!Online

5/16 - Some Season 8 Snippets: It is likely that Lex will simply be "missing" as the new season begins. In his place the new character "Tess" will be looking over his assets. Producers hope to get Michael Rosenbaum back for guest shots; whether or not they will be successful at getting him remains to be seen. - If Laura Vandervoort does not return as a series regular, it is likely that Kara will remain in the Phantom Zone until she can be rescued. - Phil Morris may be returning as the Martian Manhunter in Season 8, and James Marsters has expressed interest in more appearances as Brainiac. 5/5 - Big changes continue for Season 8 of Smallville. The CW has informed The Continuum that Michael Rosenbaum, who played Lex Luthor, is leaving the series as a regular and that next season will include two new villains. The new villains will be Doomsday from the Superman comic books and "a female antagonist who will challenge Clark in ways never before imagined. " Casting is underway for both roles. Here's how the network describes the new villains: * Doomsday: "In season eight, Clark will face his ultimate challenge with the appearance of the legendary, unstoppable destroyer Doomsday, who appears on Smallville for the first time. As comic book fans know, Doomsday is notorious for being the only character in the DC Comics universe to have killed Superman." *Female villain: "Doomsday won't be Clark's only nemesis in the upcoming season. The executive producers are tight-lipped about a new female villain they will be introducing, but they can say she will be familiar to many fans and will set her sights on Clark in ways Lex never could. Intelligent, brilliantly manipulative, and dangerously sinister, our gorgeous new villain has one more weapon in her arsenal: Her mutual attraction with Clark may prove to be as deadly as kryptonite for him." Rosenbaum has been a cast member for all seven seasons of Smallville to date. He was also the voice of Flash in Cartoon Network's Justice League/Justice League Unlimited. A joint statement from Smallville executive producers Darren Swimmer, Todd Slavkin, Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson; The CW Network; and Warner Bros. Television regarding Rosenbaum's departure was released: "It has been an honor and pleasure to work with Michael for the past six seasons. He is one of the best actors on television and has never failed to bring a new layer to the character of Lex Luthor in every episode. While Michael won't be a series regular and we won't have the pleasure of working with him on a weekly basis this fall, we like to think that we haven't seen the last of Lex Luthor. Stay tuned." For an open letter from Rosenbaum, CLICK HERE.

Recently, Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar announced they were leaving the series. John Glover's Lionel Luthor has been killed off, and it has been reported that Kristin Kreuk will appear in only a handful of episodes next season.
