B) 7/14 - Harpers Island - Casting News "Betty" regular Christopher Gorham has been tapped to star on CBS' midseason drama "Harper's Island." The CBS Par-produced "Island" is a serialized horror story about a group of friends who meet on an island off the Seattle coast for a destination wedding. Gorham will play the groom-to-be, whose name, ironically, is Henry, which was also the name of his character on "Betty." On ABC's "Betty," the rivalry between Henry (Gorham) and Gio (recurring Freddy Rodriguez) for Betty's (America Ferrera) heart culminated in the second season finale where the final scene showed Betty seemingly making her choice, but the lucky guy was not revealed. Gorham won't return to "Betty," and Rodriguez, who has a few features lined up, is not expected to come back for more than one episode, which means new love life for Betty. She is not expected to stay on the sidelines for long -- hunk Val Emmich was just cast as recurring character Jesse, a new love interest for Betty. Gorham first appeared on "Betty" as a guest star in the fall of 2006. He was quickly recruited as a recurring and later upped to regular. He is repped by CAA and Rigberg Entertainment. 6/09 - TV Guide Preview: Ugly Betty's Christopher Gorham tells TV GUIDE that he will be staying behind when the rest of the cast starts shooting in New York next season. "The show is moving, I am not," he said at the SKYY Vodka screening for "Sex and the City" on May 29. So what does this mean for Betty (America Ferrera) and Henry's on-again, off-again romance? Though Henry came back to Tucson to propose to Betty, it doesn't look like she'll be accepting the ring, at least for now. But does that mean Betty will go with Gio (Freddy Rodriguez) on a date...to Rome? Stay tuned! Source: TV Guide

5/8 - Moving to New York? When it comes to New York, Ugly Betty has apparently come to the conclusion that nothing beats the real thing. In what would be a fairly unprecedented move for an established hour drama, ABC is in serious discussions with the producers to shift the show's entire production to within stalking distance of me New York next season. The real New York. Although Ugly Betty is set in the Big Apple, the show is shot entirely in La La Land. Whenever Gotham is featured as a backdrop in a scene, what you're probably seeing is a studio backlot, a random street in downtown L.A. or, in the case of Betty's Queens nabe, an elaborate green screen. Although an ABC Studios spokesperson was unavailable for comment, my Betty source says Alphabet execs see the East Coast move as both a way to cut costs ("It's generally cheaper to shoot in the city you're trying to portray") and give the show an authentic New York feel. It's doubtful they'll get much resistance from the actors, many of whom either hail from Manhattan (Vanessa Williams and Ana Ortiz) or have called it home at one time (Juilliard grad Michael Urie). As far as I'm concerned — and by "I," I mean me and you, too — it sounds win-win. You see, it's much easier to stalk interview BFFs Urie, Ortiz and Becki Newton if they live just a few blocks away as opposed to a few thousand miles. Duh. Source: TV Guide

5/6 - Lindsay Lohan Press Release: LINDSAY LOHAN JOINING THE CAST FOR MULTI-EPISODE ARC OF ABC’S AWARD-WINNING SERIES “UGLY BETTY” Viewers Will First See Her Character in “Ugly Betty’s” Season Finale on May 22 Lindsay Lohan (“Mean Girls,” “Bobby”) will join the cast of ABC’s hit comedy “Ugly Betty,” appearing in the upcoming Season Finale and in five episodes next season. Viewers will first see Lohan’s character in the Season Finale episode airing THURSDAY, MAY 22 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET). She’ll play a mean girl from high school who suddenly resurfaces in Betty’s life. She’ll continue on the show when the series makes its third Season Premiere next fall. Source: ABC

4/25 - Rebecca Romijn Downgraded: Wow. Just...wow. Sources connected to the show have just confirmed to me that we probably won't being seeing as much of the divine Ms. Rebecca Romijn as glamazon transsexual Alexis Meade on Ugly Betty next year. I'm told she's going from a series regular to a recurring character, and this change in status was not her own doing. Rebecca told the New York Post's Popwrap yesterday, "They made a tremendous amount of changes, especially with the writing staff [during the writers' strike]. And while I know I'll be coming back next season, with all the changes, I'm not sure they can take care of my character they way they have been. So I'll be leaving, back in a recurring capacity, but time for me to leave and find something else." Clearly, the show has been through quite a few changes lately, including the firing of Marco Pennette, whom surviving show runner Silvio Horta has gone on record as saying is "a big part of Ugly Betty's gay sensibility." Everyone who's watched the show knows the series has treated the topic of Alex Meade's sex change with both grace and humor, so...what's the deal? I mean, have you seen Rebecca Romijn?! She's hot and fabulous and funny, and I'm so confused. What happened here? I know too many cooks in the kitchen spoil the soup, but don't too many talented hot chicks on a TV series just make it better? Your theories are very welcome below, because I am stumped. No comment yet from ABC, but we'll let you know when we hear back. Source: E!Online
