7/10- Jason Priestley Says No While it was reported last month that Jason Priestley might be into the idea of directing episodes of the CW's 90210 spin off, he has now confirmed that the chances of him reprising his role as boy scout Brandon Walsh are slim to none. "No, that's not happening," he told me on the set of ABC Family's Secret Life of The American Teenager late last week, where he is directing the show's ninth hour. "247 episodes as Brandon Walsh was enough. Why would I go back to that? What's the point?," he said with a light-hearted laugh. Still, he's not completely disinterested in the new series. "What's the internet saying today about Shannen [Doherty] coming back?," he later asked me. I told him it was happening and he smiled, saying, "This is so surreal" with a shake of his head. The good-natured 90210 vet has no problem talking about the show that jump-started his career. After reading my Peach Pit-obsessed bio, which a Secret Life writer knew he'd get a kick out of, Priestley asked if I'd been to West L.A.'s Apple Pan diner. "That's what the Peach Pit was modeled after. If you watch the early episodes of 90210, the Peach Pit is laid out almost exactly like the Apple Pan. Whenever I'd have dinner with Charles Rosin, the show runner, we'd go there. You have to check it out. The burgers are amazing." Source: Zap2IT

7/5 - Shannen Doherty confirmed: If you’re a fan of the O.G. Peach Pit posse, you might want to sit down, ‘cause sources connected to the CW’s new 90210 are spilling exclusive dish of OMG proportions. In a nutshell: Shannen Doherty is in, Tori Spelling is out and Jennie Garth may be—wait for it—reuniting with Shannen on the screen. (We’ll pause while you find a paper sack to breathe into. Especially if your name happens to be Jennie Garth.) A very reliable and very inside source who works on 90210 tells me exclusively that, “It is happening with Shannen. It's just a question of how long she'll shoot, whether it will be one day or ten, and what the storyline will be, but we are working on it and it is a very real thing." Inside sources also confirm exclusively that Tori will not be able to appear in the season premiere for personal reasons. The new mom (she gave birth to a baby girl June 9) had been signed on to do “a few” episodes at the beginning of the season, but now that won’t be happening. As for Shannen’s storyline, I’m told the details are still in the initial-concept stages, but the writers are hoping to get Shannen and Jennie together, onscreen, for a scene. Can you imagine? Of course, the real question is, will they do it? “I don't think there's any love lost between Shannen and Jennie," says one rock-solid inside source. “But they are both adults now and professionals, and I don’t see it being an issue. Everyone has their take on what happened back in the day, and I think the feeling is that it’s time to move on. They were 19 and 20 when all of that happened and a lot has changed. And, you know, they’re not moving in together, just shooting together for an hour and a half.” Another insider close to the negotiations points out: “I want to stress that Shannen has been very, very cool through this whole process. We have seen nothing like the behavior for which she was once famous for.” Awww...Who doesn’t love a redemption story, right? As long as there are two red dresses in the dressing room, all should be right with the world, the ratings should go through the roof, and we 9-0 fans can start freaking out about how lip-smackingly juicy this remake just might turn out to be. I have a good feeling about it, actually, since the cast is all kinds of hot, and the producers are from shows like Freaks & Geeks and Undeclared (awesome!). Yessica in Salt Lake City: Will the 90210 premiere be two hours like you had heard? I heard the premiere script was one hour? That is true, but my sources inside the See Dub tell me they are still considering a two-hour premiere. Source: E!Online

6/10 - Latest from Kristin: Rebecca in Boise, Idaho: Any word on the 90210 remake? Is Tori still in it? Will hubby David appear? I’m hearing from inside sources that the CW is considering giving it a two-hour premiere. Holler! Whether it's one hour or dos, the big day will be September 2 at 8 p.m., so mark your Trapper Keepers, OK? As for Tori Spelling, as we first reported, she most definitely will appear in the first episode, resurrecting Donna as the owner of a hip clothing store (think Kitson). But I'm told David (Brian Austin Green) is not likely to appear in the CW's BevHood given that he's now full time over on Fox's Terminator. Tori tells us: "I don't know if she and David are together. I feel like she’s a career woman. And when you get married young, sometimes you evolve and then you’re no longer compatible." 5/22 - Latest from Kristin: The plot thickens! Or at least the cast list for CW's new 90210 spinoff thickens! Sources close to Big Green tell me that Tori Spelling will join former castmate Jennie Garth in the new series. After asking to guest star on the series, sources tell me that she has been written into the pilot. In that first ep, Tori cameos with a few lines in a brief shopping scene with the girls. I'm told that Ian Ziering, aka Steve Saundrs, is also very interested in signing on. In fact, I'm hearing that both Tori, Ian and their "people" have been reaching out to producers and the network on a almost daily basis to see where the situation with the show stands! Awww...the gang's (almost) all here! As for Jennie's part in all this, I'm hearing she was originally supposed to be a series regular, but she would only sign on as a recurring character to start. She wants to see how the show does before committing to a specific number of episodes. Worth noting: None of the original castmembers wanted to be the first to sign on, but once Jennie went for it, they followed suit. Always a leader, that Kelly! From what I'm hearing, many of the original castmembers are expected to make cameos at one point or another. Dare we hope for some Jason Priestley or Luke Perry action while we're here? 4/25 - Hilary Duff to join cast: Step aside, Shannen Doherty. Hilary Duff just might be the new face of Beverly Hills, 90210. Sources connected to the series tell me exclusively that producers for the CW's 90210 remake have reached out to Hilary to offer her a starring role in the series. No word yet on whether she is interested in the role and at press time, we have not received comment from reps for the CW or Hilary. According to sources, Hilary's potential character is that of Annie Mills. As I reported last month, Annie is a Beverly Hills High student who is into theater acting, just like her predecessor. But instead of Color Me Badd, she’s listening to emo bands. She yearns to fit in with the alternative crowd and leans a lot on her adopted brother, Dixon, too. She likes to be on stage, and she's cute as a button...sounds like a perfect match for Hilary, no? Comment below... Source: E!Online

4/16 - Jennie Garth leaves pilot amid "90210" buzz: LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Jennie Garth has abruptly departed from a CBS comedy pilot, raising speculation that she will return to the "Beverly Hills, 90210" fold in a spinoff being developed at the CW network. Garth had been cast in CBS' "My Best Friend's Girl," which revolves around two best friends whose relationship becomes complicated when one (Tim Peper) starts dating the ex-wife of the other (Josh Cooke). Garth was to play the ex-wife. She left after the table read Monday, in what was described as a mutual decision between her and the producers. Garth has been coping with the death of her father, who passed away after she was cast in the project. Canadian actress Kristin Booth is replacing her. Meanwhile, it had been reported that Rob Thomas, who wrote the script for the "90210" spinoff, has been looking to recruit Garth to reprise her role as Kelly Taylor. 4/3 - Question: What is up with the 90210 spin-off rumor? I heard "Meet the Mills" is the name and that none of the original characters are coming back. Why don't they just call it The O.C. 2.0? — Fenster Ausiello: Fenster, you don't hear so good. As far as I know, the show is still untitled, but I'd be very surprised if producers didn't go with… Beverly Hills, 90210. A glance at Rob Thomas' script for the pilot tells me that Hannah Zuckerman-Vasquez (the spawn of Andrea and Jesse) now helms the news desk at the "West Beverly Blaze," which is now apparently a TV show. Also roaming the halls of West Bev is Kelly Taylor, who teaches fashion design. (Wait, wasn't Donna the fashion designer? Oh right, she's now the proprietress of Bao Thai.) Whether or not Jennie Garth would ever sign on to be this show's "Nat" is unclear. The pilot also reveals that one of the protagonists is David Silver's niece (but wasn't David an only child before the arrival of little Erin?). And if Kelly Bishop isn't cast as the show's hard-drinkin', faded, '70s-movie-star grandma, it will drive me to drink. Fun fact! 4/2 - Dustin Milligan is the first actor to join the cast of the new Beverly Hills 90210 spin-off. Executive producer Rob Thomas (Veronica Mars) will be bringing the new show to The CW. (Dustin starred in the short-lived CW show Runaway.) Milligan, 22, will play Ethan, a likable, genuine, and popular star athlete at West Beverly Hills High School. Source: Justjared
