Season 2 Spoilers Anyway, since I'm a devoted fan and devoted to bringing you scoop about all our fave shows, I dialed up extremely awesome creator Matt Nix and interrogated him for a few secrets about season two. (Actually, I just asked nicely and the dear man talked at length about everything I wanted to know, but hey, interrogation sounds both cooler and more on topic.) Click in to find out about the fate of Michael (Jeffrey Donovan) and spy-girl love Fiona (Gabrielle Anwar), the threatening new hotness that is Tricia Helfer's character Carla, and what Michael's dad has to do with the burn notice that started this whole thing in the first place... Season Two, Whoo-hoo! OK, fearless leader, do you have a grand plan for season two? Says Matt Nix, "I really want to answer that, 'No I'm just kind of winging it.' This season is about the interplay between Michael, Carla and the company. It's about his need to play along with them enough to find out more, but constantly probe for more information so that he can do something about his situation, which is sort of a delicate balance. In general, with regard to Carla and all those people is that a conflict of this season is how far can Michael push it? And hard are they going to push back?" I, For One, Welcome Our New Cylon Overlords: Tricia Helfer is in the house! The artist formerly known as Cylon model number six on Battlestar Galactica has arrived to play the lovely, duplicitous and kind of scary Carla. Between you and me, we won't actually be seeing Carla that much this season. She's onscreen a bit in the first two eps, but most of her work will be on the phone with Michael. She won't be back until late in this first pod. But that's OK, she's making an impact anyway, as something like Michael's evil Yoda for this season. According to Matt Nix, "Actually, she's much taller than Yoda. Actually, she needs to make it clear to Michael that she's willing to rain down hell if he bucks too much; thus, her sort of amused tolerance of Michael's attitude toward her. She needs to make it clear that she's in the power position and that she expects certain things to be done, and those things will be done or there will be serious consequences. But she still needs Michael to be Michael." See, evil Yoda, training up a new protégé of the Sith Lords! Game On-Again, Off-Again: Fiona and Michael are still together in season two, but sadly not in the hot-monkey-sex way that I was hoping for. According to Matt Nix, mostly, "They keep building bombs and giving each other smoky looks." Hey, go with what you know, right? According to Matt, "I think with regard to Fiona, it's certainly about, you know, last year it was this sort of question on the table was 'Can we be together?' And this year the question on the table is more 'Can we be apart?' The answer to both, of course, is no. Obviously they're very bad at that." Girlfight! By the way, Matt says there's a good chance we'll get to see Fiona versus Carla sometime in the future: "I think it's a pretty good bet that Fiona and Carla will meet, we haven't written the scene yet, but it seems awfully pregnant with possibilities, doesn't it?" Espionage Is Not a Chromosomal Disorder: One of the things that's always intrigued me is the question of Michael's missing dad. Specifically: Is he somehow involved in the burn notice? I asked Matt about this, and for an answer, he gave me a pretty categorical, but amusing nuh-uh. Matt says, "Obviously there's more to explore with the dad, but I think there has arisen this convention in American spy fiction that spy is a genetic condition, that spies are born to spies. The fact is, that's not really true. To me, it's a lot more interesting to say, "No, spies are born in circumstances. Spies are made, not born. So certainly, will there be things to explore in the father? Absolutely, but those big reveals like it's his dad, those are really suited to shows who can sell big reveals like that, but we can't do that. Moreover I would just point out there's a little show called Alias and the dead parent was a spy in Alias. We're not going to do that." Season two of Burn Notice premieres tonight on USA at 10 p.m. (Go watch it!)

Episode 2.01 - Breaking and Entering Michael Westen and his team are back on Thursday night and they deliver an hour full of action, humor, and drama all rolled into a neat little package that ends with one of our favorite Cylons driving off in a car. The season premiere begins a few hours after where season 1 ended, with Michael sitting in his car in the back of the big truck from the finale. He is quickly “freed” from the truck, only to get a phone call. A voice we BSGers all know and love greets him on the end of the line, as Tricia Helfer starts her recurring arc as Carla, Michael’s new handler. She explains to him that he basically now works for the very people he was fighting against (those who burned him; how very “Alias” of him). Michael recruits a happy Sam and thoroughly pissed Fiona into helping him work on his first mission for the Burners (I wonder if they’ll get like a criminal espionage team name so I don’t have to call them the Burners). Michael also finds time to do the son thing, visiting his mom when he really doesn’t have the time to; they manage to have a heart to heart about why Michael never let her into the spy world. It was very touching. The cast is really fantastic in this episode. Fiona’s breakthrough, and Madeline’s nagging, and Sam’s just being a great friend all around all really shine at the right moments. Tricia Helfer has possibly never looked better. The writers have managed once again to give us reason to believe Michael is truly “stuck” in a beautiful place like Miami and Jeffrey Donovan is such a charming actor that I could watch him do anything and love him more each time. This is a solid hour of television that’s a welcome breath of fresh air amongst the game shows and reality TV that networks are throwing at us this summer!

Latest from Kristin: Ron in Memphis, Tenn.: How many episodes of Burn Notice are we being blessed with this summer?
The second-season order is for 16 episodes, but when I talked to Matt Nix last week I was surprised to learn that the season is being split in two. The first nine episodes premiere July 10 and run through September 18 (with preemptions on Aug. 28 and Sept. 9 to make room for the U.S. Open), and then the final seven premiere in January 2009. I'm kind of thrilled to hear that I get Michael and Fiona back this winter to warm me when it's cold. Your take?

Source: SpoilerTV6/18 - Latest from Kristin: Jace in Cheshire, Conn.: Summer's burning up, and I'm not talking about the weather. Jeffrey Donovan looks smokin' in the Burn Notice spots. Any chance you can give us some scoop on the hottest summer show? At the Battlestar Galactica event last week, I talked to Tricia Helfer about her new role as Carla on Burn Notice, and she told me, "I shot the first two episodes of Burn Notice, and now I've gone back to Battlestar. I start back up again in Florida in July." But her character Carla will still be in the mix for most of the season, said Tricia, even if she's on another set. Tricia added: "Obviously the show has a lot of voice-overs, so there will be a few where she'll appear and a couple of phone calls to Michael. And also, Michael will be trying to figure out who she is, so there will be some talk of her even if she's not there. Carla is even still a mystery to me. She's elusive, but she's definitely the public face of the organization that burned Michael. Source: E!Online

4/25 - Burn Notice - Tricia Helfer joins cast: Tricia Helfer's post-Cylon career is heating up. Sources confirm to me exclusively that the Battlestar Galactica babe has landed a multi-episode arc on USA Network's fraktastic Burn Notice, which launches its second season on July 10. Helfer will play Carla, Michael's sleek, sexy and lethal "handler," who often comes across as unaffected and slightly amused by him. Teases series creator Matt Nix: "To protect the people he loves, Michael is forced to work for Carla — his only link to the people behind his burn notice." Helfer, who recently inked a talent holding deal with Fox (which produces Burn Notice), will juggle her Burn duties with the final season of BSG — which is easier said than done considering BSG shoots in Vancouver and BN in Miami. But that's what first class cabins were made for, right? Burn Notice and Tricia Helfer — does it get any better than that? Well, does it?! Source: TV Guide
