This article was on CNN a couple of days ago and I think it concerns all of us. I would like to see this beautiful girl around for a long time!!!!!!!

My personal thoughts on this are that the debris field surrounding the wreck are more or less 'open season', but the actual physical wreck herself should be left alone. Obviously this hasn't been the case, nor is it likely to be so even if Bob Ballard gets what he wants.

I agree with you but it's only human nature to give someone an inch and they'll take a yard. 2 men are millions of dollars off the SS Republic becuase of the gold she was carring and as I read about and watch all the excavating being done, not once has a submersible landed on her. All the artifacts were lifted off the debris field. Even though she sank in 1865 you can see her paddle wheels are intact. I would like to see the Titanic stay in that kind of shape :)
Iagree also and can't help thinking that another reason for leaving the bulk of the wreck alone is the fact that it is the resting place of so many people that perished when she sank. There are many warships that enjoy the privelage of being classed as war graves because of the number of dead that were on board when they sank,so why can't something similiar be applied to this scenario?
