Title: Pitts Watch

Tatts - March 7, 2004 07:37 PM (GMT)
Treated myself to a Doxa watch - as worn by the man himself. A re-issue, number 760/1000.

An outstanding & substantial timepiece!

Oh, and hello from a newbie to the forum!

DirkPitt - March 7, 2004 07:45 PM (GMT)
Welcome Tatts !!

A fantastic watch for sure ! I was on the Trojan Odyssey train tour in California and they raffled off 3 or 4 of them. My ticket was one number off the winner ... boy, was I disappointed ! oh well ... one day

Cheers ...

The King is dead. Long live the King! 1977 saw the end of the original Doxa SUB 300T. We had to wait almost 25 years before the reissues came to fruition. Is the young reissue pretender to the throne better than the old King? For those people who have never seen one of the old Doxa SUB 300Ts, here tis.

Someday I will have one. I believe it would be one of my most prized possessions. How many of you have a Doxa?
Mike

I've got one! #529/1000 of the Sub 300T Professional re-issue. I love the watch, but I love the picture of Clive Cussler and I together, both wearing our Doxa's. Of course, CC has #1/1000.

Adrian - March 27, 2004 04:04 PM (GMT)
Ive got 2 with a 3rd on the way. I have a 250T, a 600T Sharkhunter and an the Orange 600T Professional on order. Will post a group picture when I get the Pro on Monday. :)

JimmyAEMT-I - April 7, 2004 08:15 PM (GMT)
I'd love to get one...just out of my price range......majorly <_<

buzzardluck - April 7, 2004 10:06 PM (GMT)

ginger - April 19, 2004 11:57 AM (GMT)
how much does one cost new? found a couple on ebay, including an original 1970's thats going for about 600 dollars.

Yeah I can only say Swiss Made!

hiramyaegar - May 6, 2004 08:50 PM (GMT)
I would love to have one, but for now I'm happy with an old Casio (water resistent to 300m!) my dad gave me. What I really want is a Luminox Navy SEAL dive watch.

Welcome to the forum, Doxa!! w:

Searambler - September 22, 2004 06:57 PM (GMT)
I currently own 3 Doxas with another on the way. I have a vintage Navy Star (non-diving watch), a vintage Searambler (dive watch with a silver dial, essentially the same watch as Dirk wears but different color), a re-edition Sub250T Sharkhunter, and a 600T professional (on order from Doxa). They are fabulous pieces and I am always answering questions from people when they see one on my wrist. Real head-turners!! BTW, can you figure out where I got my pseudonym ?!?! snor:

Searambler - September 29, 2004 11:50 PM (GMT)
I received my Doxa today. Number 532/3000, Clive Cussler edition sub600T Professional. What a beauty!

Searambler - September 30, 2004 10:51 AM (GMT)
Yes it is. 3 divers and a vintage non-diver. Now I'm saving my pennies for another one - it's an addiction, I tell ya!!!

What I really want is a Luminox Navy SEAL dive watch.

Trust me on this one, there are better watches out there. I had an older Luminox that was fine for a while but soon the band broke again and again. Then it just stopped working all together and yes i checked the battery. I also have one of the newer dive watches and this also stopped and had to be replaced by the company. I still use the new one as my dive watch. The Tritium is cool and the visiblility is amazing and comes in handy on night dives. They are nice watches but not really sure about the quality.

Anyone looking for a good substitute for the Doxa dive watch should look no further than Fossil . . . as I type, I am looking down at my orange faced Fossil . . . no where near as functional or tough as the Doxa, it has a waterproof depth of 100 meters, perfect for my deep water excursions to the far end of the pool.

The face is a little more graphic than the Doxa, which, being a graphic designer myself, I can appreciate . . . It does get a lot of comments when people see it. A great conversation piece . . . just like the Doxa, which always comes up when talking about watches . . .

What I like about Fossil watches - have about 12 of them - is that you can take them in for cleaning and battery repair at any of their retail outlets . . . they are reliable and durable. I have yet to have one break on me . . .

If you want a peek at the timepiece, just click here:

Seahunter #786/1000 as it rides my wrist right now.

grigsby1 - May 5, 2005 01:37 PM (GMT)
it seems that everything really cool was built in the late 60's

An orange-faced Doxa being one of them. Thankfully they are re-issuing them and I am in a position to buy one!

Now if Dodge would reproduce the 1968 Dodge Charger......I'd take mine in hemi orange to match..... :P

denning'sdemon - July 25, 2005 06:50 PM (GMT)
I got a 600T in June......s/n is 1093/3000..

Something i WILL be adding to my collection of watches in the near future but building a project car, building a house and getting married tend to leave the bank ballance a little on the low side.

I love nice watches, always have, at the moment i wear a SEIKO sportura chronograph, very nice watch that gets a lot of comments but i'm still waiting for the day I get my sub750T professional.......

Great watches!!! Love the DOXA's but choose not to spend that much at this time! So, the majority of the watches I have are Chronograph and I'll buy them new via Overstock.com, Costco sale or eBay. The following Bulova 98G86 I won an auction @ eBay for $87 (NEW) + $10 shipping!!!

Phil - EDIT: Updated image!

piturra - September 28, 2005 11:13 PM (GMT)
Here's a couple of Pulsar Chronograph, one from UBID.com & the other from Overstock.com respectively - AVG price was $50 w/Paid & FREE SH!

Phil - EDIT: Updated image!

piturra - September 28, 2005 11:24 PM (GMT)
The Seiko was from Costco, around $80 and the Croton (latest aquisition 8^D - not Chronograph but looks cool) was $56 w/FREE SH @ Overstock.com!

Later, I'll post my vintage 1969/70 BULOVA VALJOUX Chronograph watch - bought @ the Moffett Field PX!

I wish I were a man sometimes! Then getting Dirks watch would be okay. I'm a rather small woman and that watch would look so big on my wrist! I might get it anyways and just wear it to dive...?

khimera - October 13, 2005 04:58 AM (GMT)
I'm with you sharkluver22, I doubt I could get a Doxa that would stay on! Has anyone noticed is Loren's brand of watch is stated or if there is a women's line of the orange faced doxa?

ripper - October 16, 2005 09:33 AM (GMT)

Don't think I would have a wrist left if I put one of those on. They really should make a smaller one for us.

sharkluver22 - October 19, 2005 05:39 PM (GMT)
Thanks ripper. I might get the women's sharkhunter. I just don't know if I, in good conscience, could ever own a watch called a "sharkhunter"..... nd it's not really the same....although it might be a nice runner up.... ;)

ripper - November 3, 2005 08:10 PM (GMT)
Few weeks ago i was thinking about buying Zeno watch, similar to Doxa sub 300T, but i bought something different.:D

Here it is! Legendary:) Seiko SKX781K called "Orange Monster"
