This is what he says about Sahara:
QUOTE
This year I spent four months in Morocco on a film called Sahara, doubling an actor called Steve Zahn, which should be out in spring 2005.

It's time for my weekly find :)
Kodak has an
online magazine where the cinematographer gives a lot of backstage information... Check it out!
PICS:
Director Breck Eisner with a viewfinder, togehter with Director of Photography, Seamus McGarvey.

In the text, the DPs point out that they sure didn't spare the money
in this production, but also that they couldn't afford Massarde's
five-storey glassboat for example.
They seem pretty excited about the outcome of this movie, but I
lost a lot of my expectation after reading the shooting script
at the CCForum Club page.
Anyways:
Here is Penople Cruz as Eva Rojas in the Voisin
AND our first look at William H. Macy as Sandecker
onboard the NUMA research ship!

Oops... new find again. :)
Look at the bottom, and you can see a dried out body. :o
My guess is it's the remains of either Kitty Mannock or one of the sailors from the Texas.
(Back row L to R): Paul Munro (Boom Operator), Chris Newman (1st AD),
Jennie Paddon (Clapper Loader), Lee Walters (Gaffer),
Josh Jones (Electrical Carpenter), Seamus McGarvey (DOP);
(front row L to R) Breck Eisner (Director),
Peter Robertson (A cam operator), Carlos De Carvalho (Focus Puller).
Kellym - December 7, 2004 06:08 PM (GMT)
My guess is Kitty Mannock too ;)
Thanks R th:

I like it th:
Very fitting!!

;) Snoop or not, I find some interesting points in that article.
LINCOLN
The authour claims the shooting script actually does bring the
answer to the Lincoln mystery:
QUOTE
The script (...) involves (...) the answers to two great mysteries - the vast post-Civil War plot to assassinate Abraham Lincoln (and its link to a missing Ironclad battleship, The Texas), and the disappearance of a famous 1930s female pilot.
DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY HASN'T READ SAHARA
McGarvey belives - doesn't know - things about the contents of the book Sahara:
QUOTE
I think necessarily you have to make changes because some of the scenarios in Cussler's book - for example I believe there is some sort of five storey glass boat - would just be impossible to achieve on the budget we had. Although we did have a very substantial budget.
THE FILMING ORDER
Filming first started in England:
QUOTE
The main unit shot a replica Ironclad ship on Hawley Lake, tucked away in the middle of Hawley Woods near Farnborough.
Then they continued to Morocco, where all the desert scenes were shot, plus all the scenes on water, and at an other place the train chase.
Finally, the Massarde plant scenes were shot in Spain, in "a disused engine-testing hangar".

Maybe I don't know what a VanDyke beard looks like, but that's not at all what I had in mind. I think I imagined more of a pointy devil's goatee. Hmm.

Welcome to the Weekly Sahara Snoop with R :)
Today we're taking a looking at some of the characters in
the upcoming Sahara movie. Some are obvious, some
are harder. Find these in the picture:
Sandecker (top center)
Kazim (top right)
Eva Rojas at the Asselar well (middle right)
Maybe you can identify more?

Look at the CG they've done in the new trailer:
Compare with the city picture we've seen before, and you can see the structure in the building in the background...

New photos from Paramount:
oswalder - December 18, 2004 02:11 AM (GMT)
Dirk's hair sure looks a lot more black in these new pictures, excellent.
CusslerFanatic - December 18, 2004 08:05 PM (GMT)
I am a HUGE Cussler fan so Let me start by saying the Trailer is very awesome, loaded with action and it looks like the movie will Rock! I will definitely be there when it opens. It looks like they got one right this time. th:
However, having said that I do have a few concerns about the trailer and how close the movie is to the book. My first observation was Dirk showing the coin to Eva Rojas and the Admiral it makes it seem like that is why they go up the Niger not the Red Tide. Secondly the trailer seems to have Eva Rojas with Dirk and Al alot and lastly where was the the bandits on camels in the book?. It just seems the trailer has alot of things not in the book. I realize it is only a trailer.
I will however be at the opening because anything Clive has his name on has got to be awesome. th: beer:

The poster was out at
comminsoon.net today.
I think it's kind of funny-looking. Aren't the heads made bigger, and aren't they having wierd expressions on their faces?

And doesn't Steve Zahn look HOT in that black muscle shirt
I think they should at least have the actors names under the right actors.
Very eye catching though.Good colors.I'm going to have to bother the local theater here to get myself a copy.

The actor's names are not always below the right picture, I've thought about that before...
Anyway, Paramount had another format of the poster at their website...

A little find...
First at the Calliope boat: Dirk Pitt, Eva Rojas, Rudi Gunn and the WHO doc Hopper barely seen.
Next Matthew and Penople between the shots, laughing at something we'll never know. :P Notice producer Mace Neufeld's chair in the background.
