Title: Sahara Soundtrack
NUMA_Diver - March 8, 2004 02:32 AM (GMT)
According to IMDB, Brian Tyler is slated as the composer for SAHARA. From what I can see, he has been involved in movies/tv since 97. Does anyone know anything about him?

My perfect choice would have been Hans Zimmer. Absolutely brilliant guy, especially in The Rock and Gladiator.
I'm not sure whether Tyler can create a TRADEMARK DP THEME for decades to come.

I've heard some of the stuff this guy has done and I think he's good and seems to capture the esscence (sp?) of a movie with the music so hopefully he'll get it right for Sahara ;)

Same here. I love the work he does. John Williams is another fabulous composer whose done a lot of movies.

I was hoping for John Williams, but he's probably busy w/ the next Star Wars movie...let's hope this guy does a good job. And speaking on the soundtrack, I wonder who will put a "credit song" on it...for some reason, I'd love to hear Josh Groban sing for this movie-he did a great job w/ Troy, which kinda reminds me of this in a way.

WHAT?? Only one original song from Clint Mansell from the movie? This is a HUGE disapointment!!

I think that the perfect song for when they first show Dirk Pitt would be "Stayin' Alive" by the Bee Gees. It has that "larger than life" kind of tune to it, which I think would be perfect for Dirk Pitt!! th: th:

Hmm so not only is Dirk Pitt now a treasure hunter he is also a Classic Rock fan.
And I always thought he listened to jazz......
Wondering who the band Steppenwold are though.I hope they do a good cover of the Steppenwolf song. ;)

Apparently he's not the only one.
Chapter 44 from VR second paragraph
*The music coming out of his stereo system was on an easy listening station instead of his preferred modern jazz*

Being from New Orleans I'm a huge Dr. John fan so I loved the opening song of the movie, "Right Place, Wrong Time". It fit Dirk to a tee!!

How are there 4 of the 12 songs on the soundtrack that aren't even in the movie?!? "Not contained in film"
How does a movie "inspire a song"?
<_<

It depends, sometimes the music is an afterthought and is added after the movie has been put together and therefore not in alot of the movie an example of this is Young Guns 2 A whole album was written and recorded for the movie yet only one song made it into the movie while the credits were rolling.
Movies inspires songs like books inspire movies, or paintings/ drawings!!

Thanks Kel, I guess I'll just have to see the movie and then buy the soundtrack and see if the movie would have inspired me to add the new songs too. det: :)
