Title: Did anyone pick this up?
DirkPitt - December 9, 2004 08:28 AM (GMT)
The illustration at the start of PART 2 CHIMERA has the following caption :
Japanese Imperial submarine I-413 and Numa submersible Starfish
Its a simple typo, but the only Japanese submarines mentioned were the I-403 and the I-411

Just add it to the list of typos. Flying over the ocean East of California was one. I should have written them down as I was reading because there really were 4 or 5. Plus, the drawings at the beginning of sections didn't even really LOOK like their descriptions, aside from being mis-captioned. We can't blame these mistakes on a 70+ year old writer anymore, as Dirk Cussler did the majority of the writing, but Clives publisher/editors are getting a fat paycheck for sitting around and doing nothing.

The proofreaders are not doing a very good job any more. I hope they pay more attention to datail in the next book.

The number thing is a minor typo, but how about the serious problems with the sense of direction. like on Page 402 in Chapter 48 where it states that "the Odyssey had churned west, inching her way closer to the California coast."
Is LA now on the East coast of California?
