FOUR NAVY MEN MISSING IN 'COPTER CRASH

Dec 9 2004
By Pete Samson

FOUR men are missing after a Navy helicopter crashed in the sea during a rescue mission last night.

The helicopter was on a search-and-rescue mission after two frigates - the Montrose and St Albans - had reported hearing cries for help, thought to be from a man overboard. But contact was lost 15 miles south east of the Lizard in Cornwall.

The wreckage of the Lynx helicopter was located on the sea bed early today but the search for the missing crew - from the Royal Naval air station in Yeovilton, Somerset - is continuing. Several craft, including the frigates and two Navy Sea King helicopters, were taking part in it.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency said the cause of the original mission "is a mystery".

Special cameras are being flown to the site of the wreckage to try to discover more about the crash and the whereabouts of the missing crew.

I think I may have read one too many CC novels, because I have way too many theories running around in my head  (just adding a little light-heartedness to a horribly sad incident)
