Title: SAHARA Toys & Collectibles
Description: what would you like?

motorcycleress - March 8, 2004 10:15 AM (GMT)
What kind of Dirk Pitt toys or memorabilia would you like to have?
….that would go with the SAHARA movie?

I’d like
1) Don Julio tequila, limited Dirk Pitt edition, maybe tinted opaline green?
2) Action figures of everyone (…there dolls not action figures, wait, uh…)
3) NUMA logo --- patches, windbreaker, baseball hat, beach towel
4) Dirk Pitt’s Hot Wheels hanger, with all the cars in a kit that unfolds like the old Micro Machine and Polly Pocket toys
5) Dirk Pitt swimsuit calendar (only with Dirk, ok sexy Perlmutter too …)
6) Civil war ironclad
7) The yacht, did u say remote control?
8) Movie posters
9) Heart-shaped pillow with Dirk’s photo (uh, no)
10) What else?

OK, this is over-merchandizing on Clive’s work but hey….. it’d make people happy. And people got that way neato skeeto belt buckle from Raise the Titanic (bad movie even down to the marketing gimmicks)

And, I’m not too old for toys.

…BTW, is anything coming out with the movie?

Ummm, no!

Seriously, some of the merchandise tie-ins you describe would only really apply if the movie were more for kids. Dirk Pitt action figures? Hot Wheels? Yeah, allright, so I would buy them, but that's not the point! :D
Don Julio tequila? I'd buy that in a heartbeat, (even though I prefer Captain Morgan Spiced rum). Instant collectable!
I'd love a NUMA hat, btw....

NUMA_Diver - March 8, 2004 10:26 PM (GMT)
I am not sure you folks are aware of this but the official NUMA site has a merchandise section where they sell t-shirts, hats, patches and other goodies. The items are available for a set donation. Hope that helps.
Take care
Mike

Models of the ironclad, Avions Voisin, Fort Foreau, etc would be pretty nice.. also action figures from Dirk, Al, Julien, and so on :P

Not feasable. Too much plastic/vinyl for the Perlmutter figure. Toy companies won't take such a risk on potential costs of materials!
:D

NUMA_Diver - March 10, 2004 10:57 PM (GMT)
Well I am afraid that I would buy just about anything they put out in regards to the movie (as my wife frowns in the background)....Everything is collectible. I will be like a kid waiting for christmas....
Mike :D

Some of that Red Tide Bubble Bath! Maybe a St Julian's cookery book as well! Sahara Sun Tan Lotion? - why not :)

Considering all the merchandise from such movies as LOTR, Star Wars, ANYTHING
Disney, etc., the possibilities are endless.

I think "Yves Massarde's Natural Spring Water" might do well.
As a gag gift of course.
Pardon the pun.

How about a lego-set of kitty manhawk's plane? aka the method to Dirk and Al's escape from the sahara desert?

kujo54 - March 13, 2004 08:13 PM (GMT)
I actually like motorcycleress's idea about the Hot Weels hangar set. And the
swimsuit calendar as long as there is a "Pitt Women" version for the guys.

jet_doctor - March 13, 2004 10:50 PM (GMT)
How about a remote-controlled ironclad that you could put in a swimming pool or a bath tub. My son would love that.

Well I looked at the numa.net site and I just found a few things that I could buy that I don't have money for but I will find a way. I love the idea of the Dirk car toys but my son will have to be 20 before he can touch them. He is 27 months old now and he would destroy them. :D

numa77 - February 2, 2006 10:16 PM (GMT)
All this talk of toys and guess what i found at wal-mart last night...

DIRK PITT and AL G. Action figures!!!!! party:

They are dressed in their robes disguise, with an attachable face that is covered with a turban. The Pitt figure looks a lot like MM.

The blistercard indicates that there are other vehicle toys (helipoter, tank, jeep) that come with two figures each. Not a lot of info on the card about who these figures are or if any other figures are sold seperately.

Anyway, they are pretty cool - i will try and post a pic of the dirk pitt figure, which i bought. para:

oswalder - February 3, 2006 03:16 AM (GMT)
Thanks, numa77! I had heard that they were making collectible toys from the movie but hadn't heard anyone who had one for real. Pics would be great! w:
