(R) - December 12, 2004 01:13 AM (GMT)
That's good news. th:
Finally... Next few weeks must mean before Christmas.
Ace Roberts - December 14, 2004 01:13 AM (GMT)
One has to wonder if it will be attached to Paramount's Lemony Snicket which opens this weekend or possibly with Phantom of the Opera or Meet the Fockers the next? Either way, the official trailer is LONG over due from a marketing standpoint and needs to be seen by holiday audiences!
Archer - December 14, 2004 04:01 AM (GMT)
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh I can't wait to see it j: th: :) party:
Foss Gly - December 15, 2004 10:38 PM (GMT)
I'm wondering if the trailer that is released to theaters will be the same one we've seen thus far, or a different one with additional/less footage.
Either way, let the hype begin.
doxa-man - December 17, 2004 03:54 PM (GMT)
EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT!!!
I'm becoming more and more hopeful! It looks like the producers are staying pretty close to the book's storyline - at least the main storyline(s). Has anyone heard the latest on the lawsuit?
dOXa.
Kellym - December 17, 2004 04:09 PM (GMT)
I liked that Rudi was in the trailer (so that's what he's going to look like det: ) for me he's pretty close to the mark th:
I'm sorry folks but I really don't like what they are doing to Al...don't get me wrong I'll be the first in line when it is released here and I'll watch it with an open-mind but I just think they are ruining part of the appeal of Dirk and Al IMHO (Please don't hang me...at least until I've seen the movie ;) )
The trailer sure makes it look like a very fun movie and I'm sure all male members of my family will gladly watch it with me - woooooooo hoooooooo maybe that'll influence them to read the book?
reaphy - December 17, 2004 04:19 PM (GMT)
I like the trailer and it looks like that the movie will be very cool! I can't wait! I wanna see more stuff!!!
reaphy - December 17, 2004 04:34 PM (GMT)
I saw the trailer and I found this coin! Can someone explain me the story with coin in the book? I can't remind me. thanks for your help! I Have to reread the book. cheers, reaphy

Nobleizer - December 17, 2004 05:49 PM (GMT)
The trailer looks great and it looks like it will be the action packed movie we all expect it to be. the concern I have is that the trailer makes dirk look more like a treasure hunter then the experenced NUMA team leader that he is.
Mandasy123 - December 17, 2004 10:56 PM (GMT)
:) :) :)
Yay!
Now I can't wait till the movie comes out
(R) - December 18, 2004 12:25 AM (GMT)

Do what I just did: download the mov-file to your computer.
Create a new text document, copy the line below and save it as "save.htm" (not .txt in the end)
<a href="http://mp3content02.bcst.yahoo.com/bmfroot04/BMFShare04/yahoomovies/5/11020693.mov">
Right click here, and choose "Save target as..."</a>
..................
Start the htm-file, and there you have it.

I just saw it with lemony Snicket film, It def made me get excited and download the trailer. Mr. cussler is one of my favorate Novelists and to see his work go to the big screen is a great accomplishment. Thank you mr. Cussler for bringing Dirk Pitt from book to big screen.

Ohhhh is it March 25th yet???????? It is going to be very weird AFTER the movie is over because I will have waited for so many years to get to see it and then to have it be over will be quite surreal, but at least it will mean that I'll have SEEN it! I can't wait. Is it March 25th now? How 'bout now? yike:

Sorry Kel, if I had mad bling I would totally fly everyone into the states for the March 25th debut. We would rent out an entire movie theatre just for members of the forum. Ah dreams. b:

|bahamut - December 18, 2004 02:59 PM (GMT)
It appears quite good but in my opinion (from what I can see) they're adding too much scenes with P. Cruz that aren't in the book. Do you aggreed with me? And what about the coin?????? <_<
sorry for my weak english
Foss Gly - December 18, 2004 06:38 PM (GMT)
This trailer has done nothing for me.
Done nothing for me except get me more excited for the film, that is.
It looks like it is going to be an outstanding film visually, only seeing it will I be able to decide if it's been too badly butchered.
As I surmised, footage from this trailer was used in the Entertainment Tonight segment on the 17th.
Like oswalder said, is it March yet?
Oh, and sorry, Kel. ;)

I do agree with you, |bahamut, but I think I understand why they're doing it for the movie. Movies typically don't separate their stars the way CC did in the book. It's dissappointing, for sure. The boat's too crowded. as it appears they even included the other guy from the WHO. That probably is because they are running Dirk as a treasure hunter, and leaving the scientific stuff up to Eva and the WHO guy. I hope that's not true though. I wonder where she'll be when Dirk and Al are lost in the desert, I didn't see her on the land yacht.
On a side note I think the scene with William Macy does a pretty good Sandecker when he tells Dirk he's got 72 hours. We'll see (but not for another 3.5 months or so!).

welshjim22 - December 18, 2004 08:17 PM (GMT)
Looks good. Although looks like the ironclad is a bigger part to the story than i remember from reading the book. Didn't think Macy was going to be good as Sandecker but looks good in the trailer.
Archer - December 19, 2004 07:06 AM (GMT)

Wow...I cannot wait until this film is out! It looked great and not what I expected. After hearing about all the plot changes and the casting of Steve Zahn, it looked amazing. I hope the film is as good as the trailer, I can't wait until the film is out!
paulj - December 20, 2004 10:16 AM (GMT)
Dave's Trailer page has a direct link to both sizes of the .mov - you can just right click and 'Save Target As' from here -
http://www.davestrailerpage.co.uk/Sahara is listed under 17/12/2004
It looks brilliant, but can't believe I have to wait until start of April!
hiramyaegar - December 21, 2004 03:02 PM (GMT)
:o The book was good, but the movie looks even better, although it doesn't see to be exactly following the book.
My dad and I were laughing at some parts of the trailer. Like when Al is dropping his guns, when Al is telling Sandecker about the Calliope, when they found the plane, when they overturn the riverboat, etc....
I signed up for the mailing list, just in case.
j2pphillips - December 22, 2004 01:59 AM (GMT)
Well I saw the Trailer, I have to admit i'm excited, but concerned at the same time.
As someone else has committed, It looks like Dirk is a Treasure hunter instead of a Special Projects Director for Numa - if any other movies are done maybe we will see more of that - and I might be too concerned to early, its only the Trailer.
The Postives: I think Steve Zahn will be a good Al, though I picture Al with darker
hair - now I hope they have Steve as strong as Al is, Al is like a ox.
I'm kinda mixed on Matthew playing Dirk, but he looks like he is
trying to be Dirk, he could grow into the role quite nicely.
William H Macy as Sandecker, I have to admit I like him, the
trailer only had a small glimpse - but he looked the part.
Well I will wait until March, looking for anymore trailers. Even though Clive has some problems I still have too see it. beer:

I had this exact same disscussion on the chat room almost five months ago. I'd love to have that happen. All of us Cusslerites and NUMA Nuts in the same room= Utter chaos!!!! ;)

What book are you reading, Doxa? I certainly don't see it.
OkieMan - January 1, 2005 11:12 AM (GMT)
I still haven't seen the trailer on the big screen, even though I've seen the following movies: Meet the Fockers, Lemony Snicket, Flight of the Phoenix ...
boissee - January 2, 2005 02:47 AM (GMT)
I think it looks great! Sandeckers beard is all wrong though. :P

46stude - January 7, 2005 06:56 PM (GMT)
Looks like a good movie to me. People are gonna have to face the fact- there is NO WAY to do justice to Cussler's books with a 2 hour movie. It just is not possible. Don't pick apart the movie (trailer) becuz it doesn't follow the storyline from the book to perfection. Just enjoy it for what it is- a movie based on a Cussler novel.
My thoughts on it thus far? Al is horribly mis-cast, no doubt about it. NUMA doesn't seem to be a main part of the storyline, but hopefully thats just on account that its a movie trailer. Other than that, I can't wait to see it.
The coin looks to be a Confederate coin that Pitt finds in the Niger river. Since they've changed the Lincoln kidnapping story, I guess the coin was brought in to link the ironclad to the plot easier. Its been a couple yrs since I've read Sahara, but I don't recall a coin in the book.
Kellym - January 8, 2005 03:33 AM (GMT)
I've just spoken to a friend of mine in the states who saw the trailer while watching the movie Life Aquatic she isn't a Cussler fan but she had been told that Sahara was being made into a movie (can't think who would have told her...hehehe) and her thoughts are that it looks like a real fun movie, I think that seems to be the case with most people who haven't read the book, which I don't think is so much of a bad thing.
Butch 179 - January 8, 2005 03:43 AM (GMT)
:o No Abe, no Tebezza gold mine, no Melika(not female anyhow), no Unicratt team, no O'Bannion. Oh yeah, they're really following the book. WHAT book I don't know, but it just might be a fun movie anyhow. yike:
Corombat - January 10, 2005 03:39 PM (GMT)
There are some ways to do justice to Cussler's books... You can make the story shorter but the absence of Hala Kamil and the others are unforgivable. Well it reminds me Raise The Titanic- absence of Al Giordino! I didn't even like the teaser poster. But who konws since March 25...
KG26_Fatherland - January 29, 2005 08:43 PM (GMT)
I dont see the HOSTAGE called ABE !
KG26_Fatherland - January 29, 2005 08:50 PM (GMT)
And furthermore , which law Prohibits films be over 120 minutes .
