If you go to www.smokemag.com and click on "back issues," you can order their old copy with an interview of Clive Cussler.

The issue has Kurt Russell and John Carpenter on the cover. It's a 240 page magazine in heavy color print pages.

Pages 98-102 feature a pretty decent interview with CC, including questions about cigars.

It also features a really big, color picture of CC with one of his classic cars. He has his arms crossed over his chest and he is laughing with a big ol' cigar in his mouth.

Copies of the magazine are $15 each. I bought two. One for the collection and one in case I get to another CC autograph session. This pic has a big area of blue sky background that would be outstanding with CC's name written across it in bold black permanent marker!

(ps, if you go to www.google.com and click on their image search button, you should be able to find this pic by searching "cussler smoke"....

mm6mm6 (Steve),
Great information. I too will be ordering one of these magazines....or two. I wonder how many more undiscovered interviews are out there for us to find. These items make great collectibles. Now to figure a proper way to display them....
Thanks again
Take care
Mike

I just got surprised with a copy of this Smoke magazine showing up in my mail box. It was a gift from a good friend and fellow collector! Nice surprise huh! It is a great picture of Clive.

Speaking of displaying these interviews a question has come to mind. My tendency is to keep the magazines and articles intact, but for those who also collect magazine interviews and have minimal storage space, does anyone know if it makes an original interview from the magazine less collectible if its neatly cut from the magazine and put into a protective cover?

In answer to your question: "does anyone know if it makes an original interview from the magazine less collectible if its neatly cut from the magazine and put into a protective cover?"

I think that since it is your own personal collection you should do what's best for you.

That said, I believe that the value is better if you can leave it intact.

I know when I'm searching for a collectible item I want it complete and original.

Cheers,
Dave

I agree with Cusslermen on this issue. In regards to value, it is best kept intact....with that said. You being the collector, should do what makes you happy. I might suggest, with an item such as this, that seems to be readily available, you may want to order another for cutting and displaying in your protective cover and keep your gift tucked away somewhere safe.
Take care

I'm glad you all were able to order a copy. I enjoy helping along fellow collectors!

Jet Doc, I bet that fellow collector who got you a copy must be one hell of guy, huh?

HA!

jet doctor ... I would think an item such as you suggest would certainly be LESS collectible if removed from the magazine ... part of the VALUE (if that's what's important) comes from the issue it's in, where is it placed in the mag, what are some of the other articles in that issue, etc. ...
