Title: Dive Gear
Description: What dive gear do you use?

NUMA_Diver - March 10, 2004 07:01 PM (GMT)
I have a mix of U.S. Divers and Sherwood, with Sherwood being the majority. What do you like for brands? Dislike? Why?

Oh BABY!!!
I have a scubapro MK25 balanced piston first stage with a S600 balanced piston and venturi assisted second stage. My BC is a scubapro classic plus with oversized D-rings, jacket style with integrated weight pockets. I have a versa pro dive computer capable of mixed gas decompression dives. I dive scubapro twin jet split fins and a scubapro clearview mask and scubapro shotgun snorkel. I have a scubapro 3mm full wet suit and a .5mm shorty. I carry an ikelite medium sized dive light. I also carry a 8inch dive knife, and Im going to buy a 3inch backup for my bc. I dive akona booties in my fins, and keep it all in an akona travel bag with cushioned regulator bag. A whole lot of money folks, if you were wondering!!! Im also a rebreather instructor, but havent bought one yet. I need to buy a set of tech gear, as Im also a deep tech instructor. Can you tell I like to dive???

NUMA AUSTRALIA - March 11, 2004 11:12 PM (GMT)
Numa Australia personnel and volunteers are now using Seac-Sub dive equipment as the primary dive equipment on all dive projects. For anyone who is not familiar with their new range contact kym@divegear.com.au

We have just taken Seac-Sub gear to the South Pacific on projects and can't speak highly enough of it. We will also be using Seac-Sub on the USS Wahoo project off Russia later this year.

I have several tanks, a couple of them are ponys for short sessions and back up. I have several regulators, my favorite is a Scubapro MK20 first stage with a Scubapro second, one Sherwood, and one old Dacor. I have one U.S. divers backpack, and another Scubapro (which I prefer). I use all Scubapro guages. I guess that I have always leaned towards Scubapro stuff as the quality and durability has served me for years. I wear a Rolex Submariner which was a gift from my Father when I graduated college. I have a Viking Drysuit, Bailey wetsuit, and a bodyglove shorty. I have several spearguns, my favorite being a Scubapro 3 bander which I have had for 20 years. I have assorted knives, gloves, mittens, etc. I have a TUSA wideview mask that I prefer because of the fit. I have Scubapro fins for diving when I wear booties, but I would much rather wear my hypo footfins and be in warm water. I am getting too old for the cold water wreck stuff, and the mixed gas....forget about it.

As i see most of you use Scubapro . that is a popular brand I also use the same for tanks and guages the rest of my stuff is whatever was on sale or castoffs from fellow divers .Lets not forget to promote our sport. The best thing to take from a wreck is a picture.......

You want dive gear, I've got gear!! I'm not a brand specific diver. I have everything from OMS to U.S. Divers. Ihave six sets of gear all interchangeable depending on the diving situation, i.e. tech, wrech, cave, etc... My favorite diving is wreck and spearfishing. If it's high adventure, I'm all over it!! Check out University of Life and click on the "High Adventure Coalition" link where our motto is "The Unadventurous Life is Not Worth Living!!!" Everything from SCUBA to Mountaineering.

Any divers on the East Coast?

I want to see what's left of the Dregeible that sank off the Jersey coast this summer. There's a bunch of good wrecks off the jersey coast... ok so visability is only 2-5 feet on average.

Come on down and dive with Central Jersey Underwater Search and Recovery..Task Force 802

The most useful piece of thermal protection I ever bought was a polartec hooded vest. It adds no buoyancy and it is just enough to throw on if the previous dive were a little chilly. Next in line would be a beanie that I can keep in my pocket and put on during a dive if I'm not quite warm enough. I also love my 5 mm Henderson gold full wetsuit not only because it's comfortable but especially because it slides on easily when I get the inside wet. I wouldn't be able to dive in cold water without a heavy wetsuit that I could get on without too much difficulty because of arthritis in my hands.

hmmm, let me see, my reg are Oceanic, but BC, mask, fins etc are all Mares. They seemed to work better for me.

Anyone here do drysuit diving. Ive just started and have found it very uncomfortable.
