Do you think that Clive Cussler, after his last book. wIll he continue writing?
kujo54 - March 11, 2004 07:39 PM (GMT)
I read an interview with Dr. Cussler in which he stated that he has no intention
of retiring anytime soon. Then again I've read where he said he will turn more
writing over to his son Dirk. Personally, I hope the former is true. There is no
substitute for the original.

Will there be another book? Of course! Writing is the fire that fuels his passion--of course he has to keep up the hobbies of finding sunken ships, but, ah, writing is the passion.
Dirk Pitt is an international icon--Dirk Pitt lives!!
Dirk Cussler may well carry the mantle of the Cussler-novel-tradition, but I don't think anyone else could carry off Dirk Pitt like the Master himself....
well,... after reading some of the exerpts from this 'motley crew', maybe Doc C. better watch his back!

I think Dirk pitt's children will definitely be involved in future adventures. But somehow it will seem strange if Dirk Pitt does take Sandecker's place as Chief of NUMA. Perhaps he will still be "part of the action" in the adventures too. Affter all --- Peter Pan is a kid forever --- and Dirk Pitt is an adventure hero forever ---Right?

For all that are interested.... :D
Lost City
An enzyme that will dramatically prolong life has been discovered two thousand feet down in the North Atlantic, in an area known as "Lost City." But why are the people attempting to harvest it getting killed? Why are the scientists in a remote Greek laboratory disappearing one by one? What does this all have to do with a body found frozen in the ice high up in the Alps? To Kurt Austin, leader of NUMA's Special Assignments Team, and his colleague Joe Zavala, it's clear they have their work cut out for them, but it may be even bigger than they think-in fact, it may be their greatest challenge of all. . . .
Rich with all the hair-raising action and endless imagination that have become Cussler's hallmarks, Lost City is an exceptional thriller.

Is that another Kurt Austin book?? Gotta be, well not as interesting as a Dirt Pitt one. How'd you know about that diver! Oh~And Dirk's kid's no offense to them (they're fictional characters and can't hear me but still), they suck at surviving. They may have some instincts but nowhere near anything we've ever seen from Pitt Sr. When the kids were trapped they couldn't think of anything, we all know Sr. would of figured SOMETHING out! They obviously haven't harvested their Dirk Pitt genes! Must be because they just met him! Hopefully their skills improve, never know what could happen next.
Also, about the Pitt being at the helm of NUMA and being in the action, of course he will be! He'll be the driving force behind NUMA! He'll be in contact with Sandecker as VP of course... With new found powers! Pitt can always call favors (doubt he ever would) but from all of his earth saving adventures.

Man Diver, you are definately on the inside track here...I had not heard of any new Cussler book...sounds like a real page turner, can't say i expected less...

And don't forget the new series starting with the Golden Budda, although Pitts the best its nice to know that in the future our fav heros will continue or at least the style will Juan C's team in these new books are as fun and adventurest and definatly worth the read.
hiramyaegar - March 18, 2004 09:05 PM (GMT)
I hope he doesn't! The world would lose one of the greatest action-adventure writers, yet.
Leigh Hunt - March 19, 2004 05:52 PM (GMT)
I have read that He will Retire Dirk, as well as Himself and that Dirk Cussler will pick up and write about Dirk Jr. and Summer. CC has said he has seen His Son's Manuscript(oh and some pointers), and after some editing and rewrites its not that Bad.....Im not sure if the Kurt Austin Books will continue after Lost City (which Ive been told will be released in August)
Pastor Paul - March 23, 2004 06:24 PM (GMT)
I believe that CC is prepareing to open up a whole new Dynasty in his writing. I believe that he will not only continue to write but use Dirk and Al in new ways that are going to challenge them even more. Dirk has a whol new life that will really impact the way he does things. However I can not see anyone with that much adventure in them giving up with out a fight. B)
DirkPitt - March 23, 2004 10:32 PM (GMT)
Welcome Pastor Paul !!
Dirk Pitt, desk-bound and sifting through piles of papers in his in-box ... I agree with you, Pastor Paul, I very much doubt it.
Cheers ;)
BlueChrome - March 24, 2004 03:05 AM (GMT)
I second the welome, Pastor Paul--
Very intrigued at the thought of an older, wiser, grayer, sophisticated, and charismatic Pitt and Giordano---
Sean Connery better look out!!
Nothing like growing older with your two favorite heros! :D

Will dirk pass the torch to his children or to kurt astin ?
Will Clive Cussler pass the torch to his son ?
Will Dr.Bob ever find his wristwatch ?
These questions will be answered in the next episode of ? :D  |
Interesting look..........will Clive pass on NUMA and the books to his son. It has been done with 'Dune" by Herbert, Anne McCaffrey's 'Pern" tp her son. Anne Rice's son tryed his own way.
But there are many stories yet to come. Let us Keep The Faith.
tonym5 - April 29, 2004 11:35 PM (GMT)

Maybe a little OT here, but how does Juan Cabrillo continue his adventures if he lost his leg and the Oregon was to be scrapped?
I haven't read anything else other than DP books - no interest in KA, and MAYBE the Oregon ones possibly...
JimmyAEMT-I - May 12, 2004 01:04 AM (GMT)
Can't see Dirk retiring.
***LARGE SPOILER FOR THOSE THAT HAVE NOT READ TROJAN ODESSEY)******
I still can't picture him & Loren married..growing old together. Bringing Dirk Jr & Summer in later in life when they were grown...I can see. He & Loren having kids would be a sight to see ya know? Hopefully he continues Dirk...Dirk continues w/ the Pitt kids...Kurt epics keep going and they go on w/ the Oregon Files...ya know. Make a huge dynasty out of it like someone else was saying.
Irishlass - June 29, 2004 06:12 PM (GMT)
I don't know. I've always been a supporter of Dirk and Loren getting married. True, they wouldn't have the normal married life most couples do, but I could see it working out in some weird way.
I think we all knew though that Cussler was gonna bring kida with Summer because other than Loren, she's been the one repeating female in the books.
