Title: Special Editions of Books
Description: I have one...
Hiram_Yeager - March 11, 2004 10:25 PM (GMT)
I have the Book Club Edition of Raising the Titanic... but i have heard the Book Club Editions are shorter than regular books, so i hope i am not missing half the story....
JimC - March 11, 2004 11:00 PM (GMT)
LOL Hiram,
You are not missing part of the story. The term shorter as used here means that the book club edition is not as tall as the regular trade edition. All of the words are there, just in smaller font size.
Best,
JimC

I am looking for hardback editions of "Mediterranean Caper" and "Iceberg"--anybody out there have any 'extra copies'? I will look on E-bay and Dirk Pitt did give me the e-mail address of a seller that specializes in old editions...but I accidentally deleted it...

I'm doing my best to get some first editions, especially signed, but to no avail. I have bid on one or on ebay, but my check book whines after a while and I get outbid! I know they are worth it, but hey, what can I do? Just spent $700 this week to have my car fixed! ;)

HI, The Mediterranean Caper first editions were never hard backs. Iceberg was the first CC book published in hardcover (Bantam Books, 75&77). First print of The Med. Caper was in 1973 by Pyramid Books and the firm of Sphere Books in London, where it was titled 'MAYDAY!'.

My Raise the Titanic is hardback ;)

I have several signed copies of Clive's books. You just have to watch Ebay and a trusted seller there. I've never paid more than $50 for them. Also watch VJ Books website as they sell signed copies. The numbered special editions are really high, but the first editions are reasonable. Good Luck!! :D

I just got last week two signed copies of Clive's books.
I sent them to the Az address and it took about 3 weeks to get them back.

I marvel at everyone's stories of persistence and sleuthing!! I am awed.
I am trying to keep an eye on ebay, but I have explained in the past that I never get my turn at the home computer---teen age 'girlz'! I have a signed edition of "TREASURE" but it was to my father, Clive's cousin.....I 'treasure' it, of course, but I would like my own.
I am still trying to complete my collection of Cussler in hardback--thanks to ebay and 2nd hand shops. I have two shop owners who keep a look out for me.
Have a great weekend, everyone.

most of my cussler books are in hard back. the early ones I'm hoping to replace with hardbacks. I got a vixen 03 at a libary clearance sale. I read somewhere that there were only a few of this book in hardback. I hope that it's true. Keep putting them on e-bay and I'll try to buy them t:

Mine are a split of hard and paperbacks. It would be nice to have two sets - one hardbound, one paperback.

Now that, HirayYeager, is a GREAT IDEA! I had begun to collect both editions myself!
I do have an offer--just over the weekend, I was taking a 2-wheeled ride with some friends, and I found a flea market that has ALL Clive's books in paperback. Now these are not first editions, but they were all in "good-to-very good" condition. I bought a couple for myself.
If there are some titles that some of you are lacking, I will be more than happy to hop on my bike and pick up all they have. They are all $2.00 each....anything to further my 'forum friends'...
Chasing the blue skies!

I started collecting all the HB versions of all the PB's I had gotten. Kevin just doesn't understand why I need both. I likened it to having VHS and wanting to upgrade to DVD. Makes sense, right?

Yeah, those leatherbound editions are great even if they are a bit pricey. I recently got hooked on them myself. I have the ones you listed as well as 'Serpent' and 'Valhalla Rising.' At some point I am going to have to just lay out the $200 for 'Blue Gold' because that seems to be the rarest of the Cahill's right now. I also heard that a few more Cussler's are being printed in that format slated for a March release. If you are interested in obtaining any other Cusslers in that edition please feel free to contact me and I can put you in contact with a seller I know who will give you prices better than you're going to find at VJ's or AbeBooks.

Hello,
I have been lucky enuff to create two Clive Cussler libraries. My "reading" library consists of both hardcover and paperbacks of all his books that I read over and over. My "collectors" library consists of first edition hardcovers signed by Dr. Cussler which includes all of his books except (Mediterranean Caper paperback) and Dodd Mead hardcover of Iceberg......maybe one day who knows. In addition to his U.S. first editions I have others from Italy, Mexico, Japan and France. I am always looking on line, garage sales, flea markets etc. hoping I will find the two I am missing. Cheers

As I travel to work (which takes about 45 minutes) I read a number of Clive Cussler books all the time ,Ihave read Night Probe 3 times and am reading it now
