Al - I kinda like Steve Zahn for this part simply becuase he captures (or seems to anyways) Al's sense of humor, he had said that he would bulk up and dye his hair if it was required (seems hollywood didn't really want to follow that part)

Sandecker - Joe Pantiliano (sp?) from Sopranos and the Bad Boys movies

Seems to me that a little bit of hair dye would have went a long way for bringing some of the characters closer to how they should look...

For Dirk Pitt, my first choice was Hugh Jackman but now I like Colin Farrell for the role.

For Eva Rojas, i like Salma Hayek better than Penelope Cruz. But I'm sure Penelope can give justice to the role

For Al Giordino, I like Steve Zahn

For Ivez Masarde, I guess it can be a real French. How about Vincent Cassel?

For Zateb Kazim, I guess Samuel L. Jackson can give a very good performance for this movie.

Yes, I just found this site, but I agree... David James Elliott of JAG would be my number one pick for Dirk. I had never thought of him, but when I think of what Dirk Pitt looks like in my mind - he's it!!

I think Steve Zahn is good for Al's part.

Sandecker, well, I think the gentleman (sorry I can't remember his name) that played Admiral Chedwiggen on JAG would be a good match! For some reason, that is what I thought he looked like! I guess maybe I watched too many episodes of JAG while reading CC books!!

Maybe before Clive Cussler does the next movie (if there is one :) ) he should do a poll to see who everyone thinks most looks like their visions of their favorite characters!

Dirk and Al should be new Commers with Stars all around them so they can continue making ALL the books into movies.

And i still say that William H Macy is a Rudi Gunn NOT SANDECKER!

Just imagine how many wild suggestions would come up. And who would be asked? And just because one third maybe agree that a certain actor or actress should get a role, it's not just to hire him or her. And do you think Clive Cussler or any of the producers care the least about how thousands have reacted to their choises, on hundreds of forums like this...

Everybody has their own picture of how a character looks. If you want to have it exactly your way it's better to fund, produce, direct, film and act your own movie... :P

I understand what you are saying about actor's being cast in roles. and i agree about 95% however. Clive Cussler describes in detail each of the main characters. this is what all the discussion is about.

Al is 5ft 4in italian american with a barrell chest. this is not steve zahn. :P

While I think they certainly should have at least died the characters' hair, we have to remember that CC actually gave his approval on Steve Zahn. Something about him winning CC over with his knowledge and interest in Civil War history and shipwrecks. :unsure:
