Title: Be honest!
Description: did you sign the petition?

Nick Kismet - February 10, 2005 07:09 PM (GMT)
Some of you might have signed the petition to (the now defunct) Crusader Entertainment demanding that Clive be directly involved in the Sahara screenplay. There are about 1500 signatures, and I'm betting at least a few of them came from folks who found there way here.

There were also two questions: Will you watch the movie if CC doesn't approve the script? Will you buy the DVD?

Well, CC hasn't given his approval. What was your answer? And now that you've seen the trailer, have you changed your mind?

Nope, haven't changed my mind, and Yes, I will watch the movie and buy the DVD...Clive Cussler's name is on it, so it doesn't matter to me!!! :)

Did I make you mad Nick? w:

And I still want my old and new Sahara poster...Thank you Julie :P

Why would I be mad? I didn't sign the petition, and I had always planned on watching the movie, even if it looked like it was going to be a train wreck.

I'm actually very enthusiastic about it after seeing the trailer. I haven't been to a theatre in well over a year (can't afford it any more) but I'll find a way to see Sahara.

Mostly, I was curious to see if all the people who were initially very angry about the evident dismissal of CC's concerns by the filmmakers, were still sticking to their guns.

:P Good Nick!!

I actually never signed, at least I don't remember that I did! I am looking forward to it...being it is FINALLY happening!

And I haven't been to a movie theatre in years either, But I will be there for Sahara w:

I did not sign the petition.
Now that Clive Cussler obviously doesn't get his
way, I will still see, buy and enjoy the movie for what it is.

At first I was sad to see how the original story was changed, but our dear forum guru DirkPitt had a word of encouragement:

We've all read Sahara, the book ... this is a brand new Dirk Pitt adventure!

Of course Clive Cussler will see it too. And he'll own the DVD before it's on the market. And I hope that he and Bristol Bay Production will find common grounds again for more Dirk Pitt movies in the near future.

I'm looking forward to going to the movie and I will buy the DVD. If I can get a hold of one, I want a copy of RTT too, just because it fits with the collection!

I did not sign the petition but I will certainly be seeing the movie, and most likely buying it (if my girlfriend will let me and doesn't make me wait until a holiday or something). I'm dissappointed they couldn't come to an agreement and put all of the elements of the book that we know and love into the movie, and I'm thinking there are going to be parts of the movie that garner a few "huh?"s but it will still be truly excellent. I like the idea that it's a "brand new Dirk Pitt Adventure" because we're witnessing in real life the end of what amounts to actual new DP books, with the weening out of the main characters and the thrusting in of the new ones. Soon, the only new "Dirk Pitt Adventures" we'll be receiving will be in movie form.

Erik

Have a nice day!!!

didn't sign the petition. planning to go see it on opening day in Scottsdale, AZ at the Cine Capri (huge screen). Hopefully it will lead to future Dirk Pitt movies. As long as they don't turn into predictable crap like the latest Bond movies.
