McConaughey named grand marshal for 500

Actor Matthew McConaughey, who will star in the soon-to-be-released Paramount Pictures movie Sahara, has been named Grand Marshal for the 47th edition of The Daytona 500.

Based on a Clive Cussler bestseller, Sahara is a modern action-adventure story of NUMA agent (National Underwater Marine Agency) and master explorer, Dirk Pitt (McConaughey), who discovers that thousands of North Africans are being driven mad by something polluting the water.

I am really getting tired of hearing Dirk Pitt referred to as a master explorer. I know that they are trying to sell the movie, i just hope he doesn't come across as some treasure hunter who has no cares about the world. Everyone who has ever read a Dirk Pitt novel knows that the Treasures that he finds are usually secondary to the crisis he is trying to resolve. The more I hear about this movie the more skeptical I become.
