I saw today on Amazon that a new book is coming out on July 26th titled "Polar Shift". Does anyone know about this book. Is it a Dirk Pitt,Kurt Austin, or Oregon Files.

Thank you for the quick reply. I guess i didn't search far enough into the site to look for this topic.
I am still amazed at the speed at which questions are answered on this site.

Ugh... another Kurt Austin waste of time...
Well, I guess it isn't as bad as an Oregon Files book... but I was rather hoping another DP book would be in the works - understanding that it will probably be another couple of years before we see one.

@ MrKABC
I agree that the first couple of KA books were a hard read but the series has become better.Have you read them all?
Lost City is by far the best of the bunch and shows a greater promise for the series.
To automatically dismiss the next book because you didn't enjoy the first one is a rather close minded attitude. You read both VR and TO and by your reviews they stunk but you still keep reading.
How about reading LC and giving the series another chance.Use the library that way if the book *sucks* you haven't wasted your beer money

Fair enough, Mostly Heep! :P
I'll give Lost City a try. It's off to the library I go! I'll tell you what I thought of it when I finish the book. It's a deal! <grin>
Yes, you are correct in that I wasn't a big fan of VR and TO, but I thought Black Wind was stellar, and a fine addition to the DP series. I'll be reading that again and making it as dog-eared as my older DP books... ( I think Sahara would pretty much be trash right now if it wasn't hardcover!)

I'll make you a deal!
If you don't like it I'll pay the library late fees after you chuck it into the ocean

This old pirate loves to read period so I always will read anything by Cussler or someone using his name in the further adventures of Dirk Pitt, Kurt Austin and The Corporation. And will give an honest opinion of the books. p:

I am starting to become a big fan of the Oregon files, hope we will see at least one of those this year.

OK, that sounds like a deal. I'll make sure to take a picture of the book sailing over the cliff, pinwheeling smaller and smaller, with the resulting white splash against the large, green expanse of ocean. snor:
I'm off to the library to find the book! Whoohooooo!!!

Does anyone know what's the topic of the new book?

This is the product description of Polar Shift at Amazon ;
Polar shift: It is the name for a phenomenon that may have occurred many times in the past. At the very least, it disorients birds and animals and damages electrical equipment. At its worst, it causes massive eruptions, earthquakes, and climatic changes. At its very worst, it would mean the obliteration of all living matter, and if that happens-exit Earth.
Sixty years ago, an eccentric Hungarian genius discovered how to artificially trigger such a shift, but then his work was lost, or so it was thought. Now, the charismatic leader of an anti-globalization group plans to use the work to give the world's industrialized nations a small jolt, then reverse the shift back again. The only problem is, it cannot be reversed. Once the shift starts, there is nothing anyone can do about it.
Austin, Zavala, and the rest of the NUMA Special Assignments Team certainly have faced dire situations before, but never have they encountered anything like this. This time . . . even they may be too late.
