Title: Here's a thought!!!

Way back when at a party where Dirk met Loren (Vixen 03) they went for a hydroplane boat ride down Chesapeake Bay.

Who do we know races hydroplanes?

It stands to reason that Kurt would have been in the CIA at around the same time as Dirk was raising the Titanic and they might even have run into each other at the same Washington parties what with both of them being bachelors and all.

Something else to think about beside the damn code book

Astute observation Rob! But I think the Code will trump other discussion for a while. :P

Relax, enjoy the ride........ beer:

Astute??????

There you go again.... using big words to try and confuse me.

Honestly I have no intention of taking any of the limelight away from the code it was just a thought that had been nagging me for a few days now and thought I would share it.

I'm picking on you because it's easy to do!

It was a very good observation. Ok no more big words!

Kurt's hyroplane racing in Blue Gold seemed a lot like Dirk's sailboard racing in Cyclops. Who knew they had these hobbies? Why aren't they doing them more often?

Isn't Kurt also a sculler? or am I thinking of John Taft from The Einstein Papers?

Loren - February 25, 2005 10:35 PM (GMT)
Guess I need to gather all these facts and write a Code book on them!! w:

Such a shame that Kurt isn't near as interesting as Dirk :P

not as interesting!?!

We know everything there is to know about Dirk. But it took us 18 books to get there. Now, while he and Kurt often seem to be carbon copies, even occasionally exchanging contact lenses  we've barely begun to get to know Kurt Austin. And don't forget that Kurt has a shadow-y past. He's been a spy, and I suspect that may someday return to haunt him.

What else

Loren - February 26, 2005 03:03 PM (GMT)
Ok Sean, I'm gonna pull a "Helene" and dive into the Numa Files Books...Hold up and gimme a few..I'll come up with a conspiracy yet... ;)

Nick Kismet - February 26, 2005 07:06 PM (GMT)
You didn't hear this from me, but rumor has it that Austin used to do black bag ops for an organization called the 'teaM.' It might be an anagram or something else. I tried rearranging the letters, starting with 'M' since it was capitalized, but all I could come up with was "Meat." Maybe it's just an inside joke.

Keep digging, but tread carefully.

Maybe the "M" stood for Meta Section. The super think tank in RTT. t:

How about "Mate"

Now THAT is an interesting thought. If that was the case maybe Kurt and Dirk worked together to snag the Russians but Kurt worked behind the scenes. It would explain how Sandecker knew him.

There should be a NUMA Files novel of the early days of Kurt's professional career so that we can learn more about the man. Maybe Tony K or someone suggest this to Dr. C.

Prehaps Kurt is mentioned/described in a Pitt book just nobody has put the link together yet... Damn now I know where my summer Holidays are going  p:

I really like this smiley p: p:

One thing I've noticed about Kurt's books is that his stories tend to dive more into the investigative areas of the plot slightly more so than Pitt's. Or maybe I'm reading too much into it.

I agree that Austin's books are a little more "spyish" (I just made up a word). Also, Austin's books also tend to be a little more modern than Pitt's. For example, Kurt often uses a laptop computer; while, in VH Loren tell dirk he is the only single man without a computer at home.
