Title: How the Code was created
DirkPitt - February 25, 2005 03:56 PM (GMT)
There is talk of the creators using video conferencing to create the Code, but that is not the case. We used a sub-forum set up right here on the Clive Cussler Forum to put together the complete book. The sub-forum was invisible to all other members except Helene, Rob, Sean and myself. We think the concept of creating a forum to bring authors together to work to create the same book is a world first.
Basically, all of my research into Pacific Vortex was set up in different topics within the sub-forum together with explanations as to how I came to the conclusions. We then discussed every point by posting our thoughts and ideas in every topic. Sean then went to work on the research and turned it into an interwoven blend of the presented facts and invented fiction ... and presto! THE CLIVE CUSSLER CODE was born!

Ahhh Haaaa!!!! I should have known, cuz that's how I set up the Titanic game! I'm pretty sure Lisa wouldn't let Rob out of the country. Sean is genius to make us think you were sitting at a round table discussing the Code. Very good, thanks for clearing that up. th:

So that's how you guys did it?
Very sneaky, right under our noses :o

Definately an ingenious way to work on the book. Creative and obviously quite effective! th:

And here I was thinking the book is so expensive because you all needed to recover your airfare and longdistance telephone costs...

I must say you all did a remarkable job. Very well put together. Belongs on the shelf right next to the Collectors Guide to Clive Cussler and the rest of my collection.

Is that UK release for real? Why do you think they left that page of text with Sandecker in the UK release but not the US one? Just different publishers cutting different things?

I don't know why this randomly popped into my head this morning, but was that computer virus sent by Allard real or a clever fictitious spin to add to the mystery? If "all of your research" was on the sub-forum, how could it have been erased from your computers? Just wondering. det:
Thanks,
Erik
Nick Kismet - April 5, 2005 04:12 PM (GMT)
Of course it's all fictitious. None of it ever happened.
ok, had to say that in case anyone was checking up on us. Look, the same virus that got to our computers infected the forum too. Nobody else saw it happen because it was all in a private forum, but the whole thing is gone now. Just be careful, ok?

Thanks for your reply, Sean. Sounds mysterious, I'm intrigued!

Some of us have discused this in the general topics section, what do you think of creating a clive cussler cookbook?
Nick Kismet - May 25, 2006 05:32 PM (GMT)
Along that same line of thinking, I have been for some time pondering the creation of a "NUMA Survival Guide"--basically a collection of all the clever things Dirk (et.al) has done over the years to escape from peril, presented as an actual field manual for NUMA personnel. Even after all these years, the scene in Iceberg where Dirk makes a compass remains one of my favorites.
Foss Gly - May 29, 2006 12:59 AM (GMT)
That's a pretty great idea. Mingle in 'real' survival guide material for a nice blend of fact and almost-not-fiction.
Mostly Heep - May 29, 2006 04:09 AM (GMT)
I'm working on it,one of the many things I'm trying out ;)
