jet_doctor - March 27, 2005 05:25 PM (GMT)
FYI - Here is a schedule so far for talk shows featuring the stars from Sahara. Matthew McConaughey shows up as an "upcoming guest" on the Tonight show and has a date of 3-28-05 listed after his name, but he's not on on that date. I assume he will show up on all the shows next week preceding the premiere of the movie on the 8th.

(CBS) The Late Show - David Letterman
Wed. March 30th, 10:30 p.m. CST - Penelope Cruz

(NBC) The Late Show - Conan O'Brien
Thurs. March 31st, 11:30 p.m. CST - Penelope Cruz

(NBC) The Tonight Show - Jay Leno
Fri. April 1, 10:30 p.m. CST - Steve Zahn

I'll post more as I see it - or if anyone else sees something, please post it!

Just got done watching Penlope Cruz segment on Late Night With Conan O'Brien.
She came across as very excited about the film and mentioned that she performed all her own stunts, which I kinda find hard to believe. She talked about the 5 months of filming in Morroco and Spain, and said she was very happy with the finished film, likening it to Indiana Jones and saying that it was a film the whole family could enjoy.
An extended portion of the clip where Pitt hauls Cruz's character of Eva up onto the moving train was also shown, it's kind of cute, especially the guard at the end of the train. (Don't worry, you'll know what I mean when you see it.).
Good interview, and MY GOD she's gorgeous! ;)

jet_doctor - April 1, 2005 10:02 PM (GMT)
Foss, I saw her the night before on Letterman where in addition to what you mention she also told a story about how she and her driver got lost in the desert. She said she was king of dozing and wakes up and they're in the middle of the desert with no one around - all there security people were gone. So, almost in a panic, she says to the driver "I'm just gonna go back to sleep. Wake me when you get us back." She said something to the effect that she decided to just trust the driver that he would eventually find his way.

Don't forget - Steve Zahn will be on Jay Leno tonite. That should be a good interview. I don't think I've seen him do one yet, so I'm looking forward to it.

Just saw Steve on Leno, interesting interview and amazing clip!!

Mostly Heep - April 2, 2005 05:26 AM (GMT)
Umm......anyone know what time Leno is on these days.I wouldn't mind catching it tonight.

jet_doctor - April 2, 2005 05:36 AM (GMT)
OMG, I loved Steve Zahn! For those of you who didn't get to see it, it was a great interview. The guy is so naturally funny and a very likeable guy. He told a story about when they were filming the scene when they were on the camels and trying to board the train. He said the camels freaked out on them when the train blew its whistle and the camels started bucking and took off in three different directions but ended up meeting up again.

They showed a clip of the Calliope boat chase scene which I thought was terrific - very "edge of the seat." Sandecker was shown in this scene and showed some funny dry humor after his boat was blown up. I didn't think it would happen, but I'm actually pretty excited to see the movie.

Rob, Leno starts at 10:30 CST. Its on now but is almost over.

Mostly Heep - April 2, 2005 05:45 AM (GMT)
Thank-you very much dear lady.
If I can keep my eyes open that late it should be fun.I'm usually in bed by now ;)

Foss Gly - April 2, 2005 06:07 AM (GMT)
I just caught Steve Zahn on Leno tonight, too, and Michelle's right, he was a great guest.
The scene they showed with the Calliope was awesome, and I have to agree with Sandecker's dry humor.

"They did a Panama".

jet_doctor - April 2, 2005 03:24 PM (GMT)
Foss, wasn't Sandecker's expression priceless when he said "They did Panama."?

Another thing I thought was hysterical that Steve Zahn said in his interview was how he worked out for 8 months and thought he was looking pretty hot -- right up until they told him to take his shirt off and go stand next to Matthew McConaughey. The expression he had on his face while telling this was very funny.

From what I saw in the interview with Zahn and how he handled himself, and with how naturally funny he was, I suspect that the critics who have done reviews so far may be right when they say that Zahn and McConaughey were a perfect match for the roles of Dirk and Al and pull the closeness of the friendship off perfectly. I will, of course, reserve judgment until I see the movie.

Mostly Heep - April 2, 2005 06:33 PM (GMT)
And he does a spot on camel impersonation too ;)
The shirt story was hilarious.

I stayed up an extra hour last night just to watch SZ on Leno. I was still awake until Leno cut to a commercial in the middle of the interview! I was so mad. I made it through the Sahara commercial but fell asleep by the time they got back to Leno so I missed the whole second half of the interview when they were talking about the movie. All I got to see was SZ talking about his horse farm. Woopdidoo. Seriously, who cuts to a commercial in the middle of an interview (and then who falls asleep by the end of the commercial, but still). Grr.

If anyone has a clip of the SZ spot on Leno I would appreciate seeing it. Thanks!

jet_doctor - April 4, 2005 01:34 AM (GMT)
Oswalder, this is for you:

In case any of you missed Leno's interview of Steve Zahn, he is being interviewed again on "The Late Show" (Letterman) on Thursday, April 7th. It normally starts at 10:30 CST, but according to the TV guide it will be starting at 11 p.m. due to some "Golf: Masters" half hour show coming on before it.

Also, don't forget - MMc is on Leno tomorrow (Mon.) night.

oswalder - April 4, 2005 04:08 AM (GMT)
Thanks Michelle! Hopefully I can stay up that late (midnight EDT) and see him talk about the movie instead of his horse farm. I should be ok as long as Letterman doesn't cut to commercials in the middle of the interviews like Leno did.

Ta16uva - April 4, 2005 10:58 PM (GMT)
I might have to tape Leno tonight, it's too late to stay up...

cochisesgrl2 - April 5, 2005 12:08 AM (GMT)
I don't know if anyone's mentioned it, but although it's not quite a talk show, MMc is on the Top Twenty Countdown on CMT this week, if anybody likes country music. They show clips througout and do an interview with him about the movie.

oswalder - April 5, 2005 03:34 AM (GMT)
Thanks cochisesgrl2! I don't get CMT though. :(

 Good luck staying up Oswalder - hope you don't miss it this time.

Another update, that I think leah might have covered elsewhere...

The "E" Entertainment channel (cable) did a documentary covering Matthew McConaughey's "Saharastream" tour and it is airing this coming Sunday, April 10th at 9:00 p.m. CST.

oswalder - April 5, 2005 03:58 AM (GMT)
Did anyone else see on Jay Leno's "Headlines" that 58% of people surveyed said Michigan should join North Korea and Iran in the new Axis of Evil??

Maybe it's because I was wide awake for the show but I enjoyed MM's stay on Leno much more than SZ's. I guess SZ's horse farm didn't do that much for me. MM was really funny too. Maybe I'm just warming up to him and am seeing him much more as DP than SZ as Al. Either way, I'm SOOO excited to see this movie. th:

Thanks Michelle Tonight was fine, we'll see on Thursday. :)

Foss Gly - April 5, 2005 04:18 AM (GMT)
Just watched Matt's appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
No surprise, he makes a great guest, and Jay praised Sahara a number of times.
He talked about the tour that's been promoting the movie, and said it was an idea of his and his publicist.
He told a story about an incident on the road where his truck went haywire...blamed it on something called electrickery  . He also told a funny story about while camping on the tour he took a fall on some ice--the only witnesses being a number of deer.
He's not a real fan of Blockbuster Video, and mentions their "no late fee" policy. Basically calling it a farce.
He admitted to Jay that he and Penelope were, in fact, an item, and went into their meeting at the beginning of filming.
The clip shown was where Pitt shows "the coin" to Eva.
A good interview, and amusing in parts!

Just found out that William H. Macy will be on Leno tonight. th:

I think I'll take a quick nap so I can stay up for it.

Wow, it looks as if all of the Sahara stars are making their appearances on late night shows this week and the last! p:
