Feels hot? Maybe not
http://www.ocregister.com/ocr/2005/04/01/s...icle_464306.phpOpening next week: "Sahara"
Starring: Matthew McConaughey, Steve Zahn, Penelope Cruz, Glynn Turman, Delroy Lindo, William H. Macy
Genre: Desert action
Rating: PG-13 (action violence)
The story: Treasure hunter McConaughey, looking for a long-lost Confederate warship in West Africa, ends up joining U.N. scientist Cruz in a race against time to stem an ecological threat that could kill all marine life. Just go with the flow. Based on a Clive Cussler novel.
Outlook: In search of a new Indiana Jones-style franchise, Paramount turns to a Cussler book and gets Michael Eisner's son, who has a thin track record, to direct. Well, it could work. The last Cussler work on the big screen, though, was "Raise the Titanic," a major misfire in 1980. This one is depending heavily on cast appeal to draw audiences before the summer "must see" movies come out, but given its reported $130 million production cost, it needs to score quickly.
Also opening: Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon in "Fever Pitch," about how his Red Sox obsession affects their relationship. Stifle that yawn.
