Just finished White Death and was as disappointed as I was with the last Cussler collaberative effort I read. It's just too painfully obvious that it's not a complete Cussler work.
Scene setup was too brief. Scenes too short. Movement from one scene to the next too sudden.....too many 'holes', etc. etc.
Most disappointing - no 'adventure' scenes. No hidden canyons, mountains, ancient ships to explore. Nothing. Even the historical objects were not found in a cleverly concealed wall, cave, or so on.
Even more disappointing - Kurt Austin is simply NOT Dirk Pitt.

First of all, welcome to the forum Skip w: w:
You're right in saying that Kurt Austin is no Dirk Pitt. Saying that, if you look at Clive's other characters in other books in comparison with Dirk Pitt, you'll never find a character you really like!! So if you're reading the Kurt Austin adventures now, read them as if Dirk Pitt never existed. You'll enjoy the book more that way!! t:
Thanks for that insight. I guess I'm just worried that Dirk Pitt is being phased out.
