I'm no judge of 12 year olds, but I know I was reading Hardy Boys and Tom Swift well before that. Becca, have you looked into the DP young adult versions? I think there were only a couple done (Inca Gold & Shockwave I know for sure were released this way) but you can probably find them in the Juvenile Fiction section of any big bookstore.

I read my first Cussler book, Raise the Titanic, in 6th grade which means I was either 11 or 12. If my mom had read it first rather than just passing on the suggestion of her co-worker, I doubt she would have let me read it, but it worked out and I've been hooked ever since. RTT is the CC book that uses the most foul language but I guess a lot of them are pretty graphic in other ways. I giggled my way through some of those lines by showing my friends.

I got my Vin Fiz back last week (Feb. 14) already. It is great. I bought it for my 9 yr. old. but he decided to read RTT instead. so i read it. will get another copy for my collection. w:

Think I read Vixen 03 in 6th grade as my first DP book as well.

Ordered a copy for my mom, she's a teacher maybe she can incorperate it into her curriculum. Maybe I can steal a read for myself ;)

Thanx for the welcome, oswalder. :)

Yes, my avatar is kind of a signature icon of mine in James Bond fandom. <_<
