Title: Sea Hunters and SH II
4runner - June 18, 2005 12:17 PM (GMT)
Hello everybody,
I haven't seen any mention of either of these two books. I just picked up the first and already about 100 pages into it so far. A good break from the DP series so far. I may have overlooked previous posts on these two books but would like to hear anyone's opinions on these if they've read them. ;)

I'm not looking for spoilers or anything, just opinions!! :P Anyone?? Did I say something wrong?

Hey 4runner,
I've read Sea Hunters and I'm now about halfway through Sea Hunters II. I love the other Clive Cussler books and found that these books were a nice break. I love the Clive Cussler commentaries, especially in SHII when he was talking about Dirk Cussler and Craig Dirgo and their bad Abbot and Costello impersonations.
These books really give you a feel of the personalities of the people around Clive Cussler and you can definitely see where he gets some of his ideas in his books from. Very good books, interesting reading th: .

Thanks for the response Kitana. th: I haven't read II yet, still working on the original. I have really enjoyed reading the history of the shipwrecks and the short stories created by CC for each shipwreck. Just like the Dirk Pitt series, you feel like you're actually standing in the wheelhouse while reading the vivid details. Good stuff!

I've probably read about 2/3 of SHII and haven't read the first one yet. (Thanks to Julie, though, I can read once I've caught up on old DP re-reads!) I really enjoy the fiction parts to the book more than the non-fiction parts, especially when the non-fiction parts end without successfully finding what they are looking for. I'm sure the first book had more successful finds than the second. He's just priming us for a third edition. th:

The Sea Hunter books were my introduction to Clive Cussler. First and formost I'm a shipwreck fanatic and I read everything about them I can get my hands on. Once I had finished both books I asked the guy at the book store if Cussler had written any other books, this was 10 months ago, and he grinned and brought me over to the Clive Cussler section. My jaw dropped and I knew I was hooked. Lucky for me I live in Austin Texas because I have the chance to pester Wayne Gronquist and believe me I do!!

You're very lucky Empress.. th: I did enjoy reading about the history of the Texas Navy and the search for the Zavala in the first book. I've spent several months the past few years in Houston (work related) and would love to get back to the Galveston area.

If you haven't yet, do and read about my search for the Zavala. Through Wayne I know a ton about the Texas Navy now :)

Hey Empress, where can I find the Zavala search. I scanned through Sea Stories and Special Projects but didn't find it. Thanks!
