According to imdb.com, Sahara has been nominated for two Teen Choice Awards:

1) MM for Choice Movie Actor in an Action/Adventure/Thriller
2) PC for Choice Movie Actress in an Action/Adventure/Thriller

Looks like the movie reached at least one type of audience.

I think Sahara could win in the categories of:
1) Comedy direction
2) Best sound effects editing
3) MM for best actor (just kidding   )

As against him I may have been at first, Zahn deserves a supporting actor nod of recognition.

Good call, John. I really think the movie would have been vastly different with someone else playing Al.

I'm not too familiar with a lot of the other movies of the past year, but what about cinematography or special effects?

Also, my vote goes for "Best Writing Adapted Screenplay" for sure! Ha! j: yike:

Cinematography was very good, that could go for one. Special Effects weren't in the movie enough to probably be given the nod for a nomination.

Haha, I wonder what the good ol Dr. Cussler would say if Sahara won that one! j:

My vote would be for Steve Zahn for Best Supporting Actor. I think he really pulled it off well. I enjoyed him more than Matthew. Matt was pretty good, but I think he came across more as great eye candy. Women love him.

I would go with with the male supporting actor too, and cinematography, special effects and comedy. Maybe directing, engineering, film editing

Thomas, don't forget that there is more to special effects than those made on a computer. Sahara had plenty of physical effects and stunts that would be counted in that category. Whether they are better than other movies of the year, though, I can't say. As far as digital effects go, you're right there weren't too many.

Or does the academy break physical effects into "Engineering effects" and "Visual effects"?

Ta16uva - June 24, 2005 01:46 PM (GMT)
Im pretty sure that the special effects award goes to the effects that Star Wars has, computer animation. The other effects, such as explosions and stuff, you are right, are broken down into Engineering Effects and Visual Ones.
