Title: Future Dirk Pitt Movies?
Description: Fan Art

andyhuff - August 8, 2005 06:06 PM (GMT)
Howdy all! I'm new to the Clive Cussler Forum and I thought I might share some of my excitement about Clive Cussler and Dirk Pitt. I was introduced to Dirk Pitt by a good friend of mine who let me borrow the unabriged audio book of Torjan Odyssey. I've been hooked ever since; I loved Sahara the movie, and I've started my own collection of Cussler novels (I have Sahara, Atlantis Found, Valahalla Rising, Trojan Odyssey, and the Mediterranean Caper). I'm something of an amatuer graphic artist and I've been putting together posters of future Dirk Pitt movies. I thought I might let you guys have a look!

Here's one that I understand a lot of Cussler fans would like to see...

Cool work! I like the title design and you're choice of Jessica Biel. p:

Jessica Biel as Lauren Smith I presume. You know, I've been trying to put a face to her but haven't quite found any candidates, Jessica could definatley do it, but how old is she??? Anyone else got any idea's for Dirk's future Bride, that is, if they even make another Dirk Pitt movie. (CROSS YOUR FINGERS) Anyways, GREAT job andyhuff. I found myself getting a serious case of the goose bumps when i saw this. Maybe you can make some more artwork for the other books...possibly....i would LOVE that! Again great job. th:

Thanks for the comments guys! I wasn't sure where to post this; there's obviously the Artwork forum, but since it was a movie poster i figured it could qualify for this one too. Anyway, I have done some of the other books, although some of my character choices might not be wise as I haven't read them all...with Jessica Biel, for instance, I didn't know it was Loren Smith in Inca Gold. Still, she would make an awesome "Pitt Girl"... ;)

Thanks again!

Loren Smith reminds me of an actress back in the eighties named Lisby Larson, but she may be too old for the role now.

Great poster Andy!! I have always thought Ashley Judd would be a classic Loren Smith.

Ta16uva - August 9, 2005 04:42 PM (GMT)
I think that Jennifer Aniston or Jennifer Garner would be a good choice for Loren Smith.

Here's the first Dirk Pitt movie adaption poster I did, based on the book I am currently reading. I chose Meg Ryan as Pat O'Connell because I felt like she could give a strong performance as a linguistics expert while still maintaining a Bond-girl type look/attitude. I didn't want to fall into the trap of The World is Not Enough with nuclear scientist Denise Richards (yeah right!). My wife thinks Claire Daines would be a better choice...what do you all think?

OMG. That's a great one!! Good Choice (Meg Ryan).

Keep 'em coming!!!

The tag line is taken from the description of the book from the dust jacket of the hardcover. I was very fortunate to find that awesome picture of M.M.; I think it is the perfect representation of Pitt. I've tried not to use the same pictures in the posters I'm designing, but look for that one to get used again. ;)

Yeah, I think my second choice would be Jennifer Garner. She's good too. The only problem with her though is, she's a bit young for Loren Smith unless they could age her a bit.

McConaughey's a bit young for Pitt, so it would probably all work out.

Foss Gly - August 10, 2005 11:48 PM (GMT)
I quite like the idea of Jennifer Garner as Loren, actually. I never considered her before, but now that I think of it, she'd be a good choice.
Or my old fave, Gillian Anderson.

When I see Loren, I see Nicole Kidman. beer:

Some questions linger about the AF poster: Is Steve Zahn losing weight, and since when can Meg Ryan grow a beard?

Fabulous job, seriously. Now that you've peaked our interest you won't be able to keep 'em coming fast enough. th:

Personally, I almost hope they don't include Loren in any new movies. They couldn't possibly get my favorite character right, and I certainly wouldn't want them to botch her up like they did with Al (although MAYBE if they got her character right, like SZ kinda did with Al's). Then again, she could end up like Rudi: not looking like him and nowhere near his personality. That would be disasterous for me. beer:

edit: The more I look at SZ in your AF poster, the more he kinda looks a little like Al could. Great finds with the pictures. th:
