The English warship St. George spent the summer of 1811 off the pennisula of Denmark illegally trading and loading goods to make the return trip to England in the fall. The sinking of the ship in a storm while returning home resulted in great loss of life, but the mystery of its cargo lay with it under the cold North Sea water fo many years.
Is this the start of a story, or is it a factual thing? Because maybe then it should be placed in the Sea Stories Forum. det:
Well the title leads me to believe it is a story but I could be mistaken.
Welcome to the forum flscubaguy, we look forward to reading more of your posts whether they be of a factual or story-telling nature :)
The story of the St. George shipwreck is true. It sank in 1811, off the West coast of Denmark.
I want to enter the fictional writing contest.
Clive Cussler provide me with the name and telephone number of Gert Normann Andersen, who he dove with while in Denmark. Gert made me an offer to go diving on the wreck of the St. George. I dove with the top Danish Archaeologists, recovering artifacts, which are now in a museum there.
The "mystery" would be the fictional story woven around true facts and characters. As advertised in the intro -Part I of the contest "fact based prologue with a splash of fiction".
