Well I saw Sahara in the Theater's and just bought the DVD. The DVD has deleted scenes, and on is of Kitty in the desert. I think that would have been a good after the the TEXAS opening.
I, like other's here already knew that the moive wouldn't be like the book, but I do have a few things to say. One, Mathew was ok as Pitt, but I didn't like Steve as Al. After reading all the books describing Al as a short barrel chested Italian, steve just didn't fit(for me anyway). I thought that Luis Guzman would have made a great Al. I also agree that they had Rudy all wrong, For being second in Command of Numa, he's not that geeky. He is straight forward and smart.
I do wish they would have introduced, Loren, Hiram, and St Julien, and the hanger.......They could have continued developing the characters in future movies(I hope).
Well I liked the movie, and at times, we Numa fans kinda wondered how they got from one scene to another, but being the first decent movie, it might take a few movies like the books to get the full story on Pitt and Numa.
Keep Exploring the sea's.......
Finally saw the movie today. Bought it last week. As a movie based on a book I would not recommend it. But as a stand alone action adventure tale, it stands tall. Great chemistry between Matthew and Steve Zahn. I had no idea that's how you pronounced Giordino, guess I was mispronouncing it myself. I doubt you can find anyone who can play these two again. So, I would recomment that these two return. Be way too hard to find someone better. And Rudi Gunn was played by a character actor whose experience in Nerd characters is great, but I never pictured Rudi as a nerd. Miscasting there. Penelope Cruz as Eva Rojas was not well defined. An enjoyable movie. And the bad guys didn't seem that evil. Well, maybe the Kasim character. But not the Massarde guy. Good casting with Admiral Sandecker.
