Title: Pearl and Pete

As most you you know, Tony has put me in charge of letting all of you know what is going on in the world of Sea Stories. With all the close ties that I have in New Orleans (it is where I was raised and what I call home) although I live in Austin, I have been following all the events there like a hawk. The problem is where do I start? There is nothing I could share with you that you don't already know concerning the waters in around New Orleans except for this.......

Most of you know(didn't I use that once already) that my stepmom and her fiance are staying with David and I for at least the next month. Katrinia hit so fast that Barry (my stepmom's fiance) had to leave his 3 cats behind. How did that happen and who could leave their pets behind, let me just tell you, Barry's house was 3 blocks from the 17th street leeve and his house was quickly under 13ft of water.

We contacted the Humane Society and they said they would go and retreive the cats last Monday, we called again on Friday and they had somehow lost the information. In steps Michael, Barry's son, who is with the California National Guard that happens to be stationed by Barry's house. Michael and his team jump in a boat, get to Barry's house, break in the 2nd floor bedroom window and there are Pete and Pearl, alive but a little confused. The 3rd cat Tiki we still haven't found yet.

As I type this Pete and Pearl are flying in a helicopter, with a National Geographic photographer, to Baton Rouge where they will be picked up by Barry and my stepmom to come back and live with David and I permanently.

This is the kind of Sea Story I enjoy telling all of you about. I'll post pictures of Pete and Pearl when they arrive!

How heatbreaking that they were left behind but so wonderful that they were found and returned. I hope they can find the third cat. Poor baby must be terribly lonely without it's family.
