Book Description

An enzyme that will dramatically prolong life has been discovered two thousand feet down in the North Atlantic, in an area known as "Lost City." But why are the people attempting to harvest it getting killed? Why are the scientists in a remote Greek laboratory disappearing one by one? What does this all have to do with a body found frozen in the ice high up in the Alps? To Kurt Austin, leader of NUMA's Special Assignments Team, and his colleague Joe Zavala, it's clear they have their work cut out for them, but it may be even bigger than they think-in fact, it may be their greatest challenge of all. . . .

Rich with all the hair-raising action and endless imagination that have become Cussler's hallmarks, Lost City is an exceptional thriller.

Thank you ALL, for all you do to keep this site going. I haven't always been able to check in on a regular basis now as the weather has gotten nice, but it is a wonderful site and rather like an 'old friend' that you always come back to...

I like Kurt Austin but i'm waiting for him to come out with a excellent novel like the ones with Dirk Pitt. I still have hope thoug co: h.

I believe I have all of Dirk Pitt novels from 1978 to2001 and am re-reading them in order. When I finish these, I will start on Kurt Austin, Fire Ice, and his newest one, White Death. I find all of these books extremely entertaining and exciting, and cannot understand why some readers have not taken advantage of Cussler's very knowledgeable writings. I cannot comment on "Lost City" as it has not appeared on the bookshelves in Canada as yet.

Hey Amanda,
What was the final title decided for the book?
I am in Australia so wil still be a while before we get it, Golden Buddah was just released here.
Thanks
Anne

I can't wait for the book to come out!

Summertime will always bring back good Dirk Pitt Memories for me. Last summer I went and bought all the Dirk Pitt and Kurt Austin Novels...

But I haven't been able to read them all yet because I read alot of other books (I have about 180+ books that i haven't read) and I also go to the library. But I'm definetly going to get started, I'm actually about 100 Pages into Treasure, but the problem is I'm also reading "Sum of all Fears" by Tom Clancy, "Therapy" by Jonathan Kellerman, "Win,Lose, or Die" by John Gardner and that's it. Once I finish those up it will be a Dirk Pitt marathon :)

I like that movie so the book is probably awsome
(everyone knows the book is always better than the movie) :)

w: Hi guys. Just thought I'd put in my two cents on "Lost City". We had a holiday weekend here in Ontario Canada and what else do you do at the cottage when it is too hot to even think!! Read good books. Finished Lost City. The "Trouts" had more of an active role in this book than the last. Also there was more Kurt and Joe, (more like Dirk and Al) in this book. As always I really couldn't put it down. Just passed it on to my father, and all he said was "there goes a good day". So, I'm looking forward to the next one!!!

Loren - August 4, 2004 12:52 AM (GMT)
YAAHH! I thought the same about Lost City..The Trout's did have a more active role this time.
Kurt and Joe were more like Dirk and Al in this book, I couldn't put it down either para:

Well I'm only a hundred or so pages into it but on the whole it seems a much better book than the others.
Lets hope they've got the right formula now th:

Just finished Lost City.
Very good book, much better than the other 4 I must say.
Great action and the interplay between Kurt,Joe,Paul and Gamay was great.
Me thinks they have got the formula right after all ;)
I would have finished sooner but that darn chat thingy got in the way a few times

Cyclops - September 27, 2004 05:51 PM (GMT)
I am half way through this one, and so far it is entertaining. The other reviews I have read here make me want to leave work and go home and continue my reading.

I have not been a real big fan of the Austin stuff thus far, but I have hopes that Austin will tuffin up on the bad guys in this one.

The Edgar Allen Poe routine is a bit campy, but we shall see.
