Title: Name that Book...
Description: A fun game for everyone to play!
sharkluver22 - October 9, 2005 08:41 PM (GMT)
Being the great dork that I am, I was interested in playing a game of "Name that Book!" I'll start by quoting a line or lines from a DIRK PITT book and then anyone can take a guess as to which book it came from. Feel free to add your own little Lines and having us guess as well. (But please wait until each one has been correctly answered)
Al: " 'It appears to me that you've developed a leak.'
Pitt gave him a tight grin. 'I must remember to stick my finger in it.' "
Five points for the correct answer!
Happy hunting y'all.

Good idea! The person who gets it right gets to post the next one. th:

Sounds good. From now on whoever answers the question gets to post the new quote. They can ask someone else to post a topic for them if they do not want to though. (Or say if it's been more than a few days? Any thoughts on time limits or should there even be any?)
tiburonjjay - October 10, 2005 07:49 PM (GMT)
we don't want to leave it open too long, then the game won't be any fun, I say two days should be sufice...anyone else have any ideas?
loren1 - October 10, 2005 10:36 PM (GMT)
Two days is a good time frame. If no one guesses by then post a new clue for 1 day.
tiburonjjay - October 11, 2005 12:52 AM (GMT)
Sounds great...so whos next...you know what, I'll go
"I know I'm not dressed for an afternoon social," Pitt spoke quietly and pleasently, "but it's damned urgent that I see the admiral."

sharkluver22 - October 11, 2005 03:59 PM (GMT)
Mostly Heep, it's your turn to post a "Name that book" quote. :P Have fun!

There are actually a few other quotes from that book that I like better, but they were a little obvious!! Have fun! w:

Dear_Heart05 - October 14, 2005 06:57 AM (GMT)

sharkluver22 - October 14, 2005 08:03 PM (GMT)
Nope, it's not Inca Gold. I'll give it one more day...
oswalder - October 14, 2005 08:57 PM (GMT)
Hmm, he doesn't say it to the general store guy in Flood Tide and he doesn't say it to the Raferty's in Vixen03. How about Treasure?

I'll give another quote from the same book but I am leaving out the names.
Later on...
"Curious, ____ asked, 'What else did the admiral have to say?'
'He said, among other things,' _____ spoke slowly, 'that if Mr. Pitt claimed the South won the Civil War, I was to believe him.'"
tonym5 - October 14, 2005 10:46 PM (GMT)
sharkluver22 - October 14, 2005 11:12 PM (GMT)
No, sorry tonym5, that answer is incorrect. I can't believe someone hasn't figured it out yet. I'm reading the book now...so it makes sense. I'll leave it up for another day and then I answer the question.

I 90% sure this was in Vixen03, when Pitt when to the see old man about the plane. The old man was doing his gardening.
I say Vixen03, but if I'm right then someone above here had already guessed the book with the other qoute.
Vixen03 ?

Thank you Dear_Heart!!! I'm reading it for the first time right now!!! You seem to have gotten 2/3! Did you remember it or need to look it up? (I would prolly be looking it up!!) Your turn now. You get to come up with one now!! Have fun or if you'd like you can ask someone else to post one.
Dear_Heart05 - October 15, 2005 04:00 AM (GMT)
After the clue I wised up, and plus, I read Atlantis Found just a month ago. That part when he crashes the motorcycle through the hotel wall and breaks all the wine, CLASSIC! Ok, Hmmm....lets see.....Ohh, I got one!
Giordino with a smile as wide as an open drawbridge, laid aside the automatic rifle and embraced Pitt.
"God, I never thought I'd see your gargoyle face again."
Have fun everyone...and guess that book!
oswalder - October 15, 2005 04:48 AM (GMT)
Shock Wave?
I love all the scenes where Dirk is trying to convince someone of who he is and he has them call Sandecker. I think there are more than just the South winning the Civil war one, but I should have guessed AF on that anyway, it's one of my fav's.
Dear_Heart05 - October 15, 2005 04:54 AM (GMT)
Nope, good guess though. I also love those moments, they make me laugh!

the clues are in the quote itself, Al putting aside his rifle suggests its shortly after a mini-battle... Al being surprised to see Pitt suggests they'd been separated somewhere...
so I'd say its in..... Sahara !!

I thought Sahara too, but this is their reunion at the fort after the battle ;
| QUOTE |
Giordino walked up to Pitt who was standing off to one side and embraced him. "I thought this time, old friend, you weren't going to make it." Pitt still tried a grin despite the waves of fatigue and the gnawing pain from the bullet hole in the fleshy part of his thigh. "The devil and I couldn't agree on terms."

Dear_Heart05 - October 16, 2005 03:14 AM (GMT)
nope, nope, nope. Here... This is what is said right after...
Pitt in response- " The things you put me through. A damned shame. I can't go away for half and hour without you involving me in a local crime wave."
Does that help???

Al is happy to see Dirk because he thought he had left his best friends trapped back in the sink hole with no possible way of escape....little did he know hu
Hehe, I love this game...ok your turn Sharkluver!
