Lets hear everyones opinion on which book they feel is the best in the Numa Files series....I have to go with Lost city, I loved every second of it. The best scene is the escape from the island that was pretty intense. What do you think???

Oooh I loved Lost City, but i think my favorite so far is the latest Polar Shift. The part with the HUGE whirl pool in the middle of the ocean was awsome b: !

Lost City is my current favorite, but I haven't read Polar Shift yet! Since some of the members have given it rave reviews, I am looking forward to it! th: beer:

I would definately recomment polar shift to everyone...it sucks you in just like the whirlpool...oh aren't puns fun. The story goes so quick though. Before you know it your done with the book. I do think Polar Shift was reallly good, but I gotta stay true to Lost City. beer:

Lost City for me too. Polar Shift is great. Look out for whirlpools. I don't want to say to much and spoil it for those who haven't read it yet. Good book. th:

Lost City here too, but it's a near thing.
I thought the action and the "evil doers" were first rate in Polar shift, but had too much my engineering training gave me some trouble in this one. This is odd for me, as I love "what if" stories, usually the wilder the better. (I won't go on, since not everyone's read it.)
I'm listening to "Serpent" on tape now, and like that one too, but I do think the collabration get's better each time.
Bring on the next one, Dr. C & Paul K!

I really like all the NUMA Files books, but I guess my favorites are White Death, Lost City, and Polar Shift. They just seem to get better as the series goes on, which does make sense. I can't wait for the next one!

Yhe Numa File series does get better . You feel you know the people in the stories now and it's like a Pitt novel. They always get better. I hope the next one comes sooner than next summer.

I haven't read Polar Shift yet either, I'm it will be one of my birthday presents next month! It should be as I've dropped enough hints!!!
I liked Fire Ice and White Death best. I mostly liked Lost City except for the part where after the big escape from the island they all talk about it as though Gamay wasn't there with Paul - I have re-read it a couple of times and it definitely reads like Paul was on the island without Gamay. Maybe I'm just being picky??
gamaytrout103 - October 23, 2005 02:02 AM (GMT)
i noticed that too, and it really annoyed me also (that's a toned down version of what i actually felt when i read it). it was like she didn't even matter, but if you ignore that part it was still a fantastic book.

Maybe clive did it becasue Gamay played such a role in White Death, that you sometimes thought Paul was on the back burner. Thats atleast how I felt. I really hope these two keep coming out with books. It might be just me...but I wonder if anyone else noticed that some of the Dirk books have more talking in them, rather then the Numae Files serioe, which I feel is pretty much mostly action or suspense. Just my opinion, either way all of Clives books are amazing to me.

I still like Blue Gold the best. It had great action and a good story.
oswalder - September 13, 2006 03:02 AM (GMT)
I've only read the first three and as so far I'm kind of underwhelmed. Definitely not as good as a Pitt adventure, but solid nonetheless. Even though they're mostly entertaining they're just not that memorable. I guess Blue Gold has been the best so far. Hopefully what you all say is true and the next three will be better.

Howdy
I have only just discovered the forum, really enjoy White death, although it did take a couple of reads to fully get past the very angry gm salmon.
(although I was slightly disapointed that they didn't have "frickin laser beams attached to their frickin foreheads") yike:

Welcome to the forum, austin cabrillo! Cool username. You're right, frickin' laser beams would be good. w:

I am glad that you agree it is important that giving fish hi tech weapons is definately the way forward.\
I have to admit to thinking long and hard about the name but have been re reading sacred stone and fire ice. th:

Hey, this isn't Austin Powers meets Kurt Austin  But serioulsy, give the rest of the series a try, the books are very good.
austin cabrillo - September 18, 2006 07:49 PM (GMT)
I have been ploughing through the books at a major rate. I am slightly afraid to mention it but I might actually prefer Austin to Pitt yike:
I don't necessarily think that the stories are better but I think that the character is cool.
