"We had no idea that this ship could move as fast as it did and (the captain) did his best to run down the pirates."

What a legend! th:

Yeah, I heard about this. Sounds like a future (or past) plot for a novel, if anything. Amazing, in this day and age.

There has been a steep rise in piracy this year along Somalia's nearly 2,000-mile coastline, with 15 violent incidents reported between March and August

Really? I mean...come on! That amazes me that this is still going on and getting worse rather than better! Looks like we need a real life Dirk Pitt, huh?

Dear_Heart05 - November 8, 2005 11:41 PM (GMT)
A REAL DIRK PITT!!!! :o .....Oh yes, i think I would like that very much Sharkluver :P

It's sad that people can't go on a cruise but the news said that they were to stay outside of the 200 mile limit of that country and they were within 75 miles. The Captin put his ship and passengers in danger. t:

That may be somewhat true, but one has to realize that those were particularly dangerous waters for just that very thing to occur. Pirates atacking a Royal Carribean cruise from say, San Fransisco to Alaska would have almost no wpossibility at all. Just as different areas on land are dangerous, it looks like the same can be said for the high seas.

It sure wouldn't stop me from taking a cruise, if

a) I could afford one
B) I didn't get seasick.

The son of a fisherman, and I can't go fishing due to illness. You can't begin to imagine my shame.

sharkluver22 - November 9, 2005 07:21 PM (GMT)
Haha! Poor Foss! If it makes you feel any better I sicked up on my last diving trip! (In my defense though I had 3 hours sleep, there were high swells, and I was diving Nitrox for the first time after having not eaten...) That sucks though...have you tried motion sickness medication?

Foss Gly - November 9, 2005 08:59 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I've tried several motion-sickness meds and those little patches that you put behind your ears. Nothing seems to help, except staying on dry land. :P
It's a shame, too, because I could be making MUCH more money lobster fishing.

The Somalia coast is not the only danger area. The northern coast of Australia and all the way up to the Phillipines is well known for piracy. This old pirate knows! And a few other areas around the wotld. p:

It wouldn't stop me from taking a cruise either but, I'd be very carfull of where I take that cruise too. Sorry you get seasick John, Boats are so much fun. Lobster fishing isn't my idea of fun so that's ok to pass up. ;LOL;

I showed this article to some people in my math class and they thought I was joking! They couldn't stop laughing!! They were asking if they had peg-legs and parrots and eye patches...and this is a college math class mind you....

Don't feel bad I get the exact same way and NOTHING helps. Funny cuz i love boats. t:

I haven't gotten seasick yet. The largest boat I've ever been on was 125ft. It got caught in some rough water when a storm snuck up on it out on the lake.
