This was found in Saddam's jail cell during a random search. ;)

HAHA! Should we be excited or upset that he reads Cussler!?!?!?! At least we know he has good taste...
loren1 - November 10, 2005 04:45 PM (GMT)
Good taste for some things. To bad he won't learn how to be a decent human being from the books. yike:
sharkluver22 - November 10, 2005 04:53 PM (GMT)
Are you kidding! He's probably learning from the villians on what to do and how to act like a proper bad guy!!
Fire - November 10, 2005 06:09 PM (GMT)
yike:
Perhaps they're just trying to brainwash him by giving him these books to read .
Foss Gly - November 10, 2005 07:10 PM (GMT)
Wait, that's from his jail cell? Where did he get all that $$ in jail?
Either way, it's morbidly fascinating that he reads Cussler.
Clive Cussler. The choice of normal people and Evil Dictators alike. On a bookshelf near you.

Haha!! It is a bit sadistically pleasing to know that he read Cussler....maybe he will learn to better his ways...
And how dare he damage books like he has!!! Look at the spine of Med Caper!!!
Fire - November 10, 2005 09:07 PM (GMT)
If you don't like the spine on that one than I'd better never show my books. yike: They are almost falling apart from reading them over and over again.
(I only have soft covers :( )
Foss Gly - November 10, 2005 09:32 PM (GMT)
The thing is, if he reads Clive Cussler, he should know that the bad guy NEVER wins, and his evil plans are always foiled!
oswalder - November 10, 2005 10:45 PM (GMT)
I've never been so conflicted to learn of another Cussler fan...
tonym5 - November 14, 2005 07:04 AM (GMT)
Hmmmmmm......Very conflicted to say the least that @$#@$@# even read Cussler! And I would even be shocked that our own president has read Cussler too! Oh, well. yike:
sharkluver22 - November 14, 2005 01:13 PM (GMT)
Fire, not meant to offend! I'm fanatical about keeping books in good condition. That doesn't mean that some of my bokks, ones that I've read over and over again, aren't a bit worse for the wear.... but generally speaking...
tonym5 - November 14, 2005 05:40 PM (GMT)
I don't abuse books like that but some of my books have definitely aged and I should try to replace them.
sharkluver22 - November 15, 2005 12:50 PM (GMT)
There were these two series of books that I had growing up that I just loved. I always had a fairly high reading level, but these books were well below my level. I loved the stories though and I would read them ALL the time. One was a series of 4 books and the other a series of 3. Some of them are rather torn up and I looked online to see how much they were to replace (they were all out of print) and the cheapest one was $30 while the most expensive was $185!! These are books that were originally sold for $3.99 and no more than 200 pages!!! I have replaced the ones that were really bad, for like $100 total. (I wouldn't have had to replace some of the ones that I did if my brother and dad hadn't put ALL of my books in the garage-we live in Florida!! Silverfish got to much of my collection and tore into them with a vengence!!) What a mess though! But I paid for them because I loved the books and want to eventually pass them on to my future children and grandchildren (both of which are years away from now)!!

I'm sorry to hear about those silverfish, sharkluver. I can only imagine not being able to replace something I loved as a child.
I'm interested to know what series you are referring to, though. You don't have to tell us if you don't want to, but you shouldn't be embarrassed about the books you read. w:

Erik...you would be amazed at all the random things that I get my hands on to read!! But, the two series that I'm talking about are the American Dreams series and the Hearts and Dreams series.
Upon further inspection of some of these books I found some are in much better condition that I had originally thought. I only need to replace a few and I found some sellers on Amazon.com that had (I'm hoping) good condition books for less than I had hoped. I still spent a pretty penny for a few (the ones most damaged, of course!).
The American Dreams series is being re-printed...but I want the first editions. This series was better off than the one of four books in the Hearts and Dreams series, so I'm not worried about replacing those.
I guess I over reacted for once! I was a bit peeved at my brother and dad (and myself for not doing something sooner) for putting them in the garage, but I guess once the red haze of death and destruction lifted from my eyes I was a bit better! I'll let you know when I get some of the books I've ordered!!
Thanks for the sympathy though!! I guess in today's world it is getting slightly easier to find certain items than it was even a few years ago. In 6th grade when I first started reading the American Dreams series I could only get the first two books (they had already stopped printing them by the time I was reading them) and I never could find the third. I didn't know how the story ended!!! When I was in 10th grade I tried finding it and then again in 12th grade, with no luck! Once I graduated I started working for a bookstore and I looked for it again. I finally got lucky and found one on Amazon for like $30. I was so excited! Needless to say that one is in the best condition!! Thank you!
