Title: Top 10 Super Ships
Empress - December 11, 2005 01:08 PM (GMT)
Discovery Channel ran a special on the Top Ten Super Ships. Each ship will have it's own show and get into more details about the ship. Here is a list of the top 10, not in the correct order. I have a game associated with them on the RMS Titanic forum and you can see more information from Foss Gly about The Cat.
The Hellespont Fairfax
The Cat
The Royal Clipper
Mighty Servant
Eirik Raude
Shanghai Express
Kilo Moana
American Queen
Ulysses
Vasco da Gama

The Cat is based here in Yarmouth. The episode is fascinating, and you get some glimpses of my hometown. :)
I've seen several of these episodes, they're interesting to watch as you can really appreciate the engineering that goes into making and sailing these ships.

Yet another woeful tale of basic cable depriving me of educational entertainement... :o

Great, I will keep an eye out on the Discovery Channel for this series, they have some great stuff on that Channel. Esp enjoy the Megastructures series. It might be a bit of a naive question but how come the Titanic isn't on this list? Are these more modern ships, currently still afloat?

Go to google and type in Super Ship and it will tell you when each ship will be featured. It will even give you an e-mail reminder. You can make your own mind up after seeing these ships as to the Titanic. w:

Thanks for that, though I don't know how much help Google will be for New Zealand scheduling. Watching the Megastructures program right now that covers the Sea Launch, featured by CC in Black Wind - which coincidentally I am rereading at the moment!

Black Wind is worth rereading. You always find something you missed the first time around. I reread all of my Cussler books.

The Erik Raude is deservedly included in the super ships-the program only scratches the surface of that drilling rig. Thunderhorse is another-in some ways more advanced.

The Cat is supposed to replace the Scotia Prince Ferry service in Portland, ME to Yarmouth, NS. Come on down John!
