Title: Next Book?
Description: When will the next Dirk Pitt novel
mike007ny - January 13, 2006 01:56 PM (GMT)
Hello everyone.
I'm a huge fan of Dirk Pitt and all of Clive's books. I'm starting to go into Dirk Pitt withdrawl and need my next fix. Does anyone have any inkling how far in the future it is?
Thanks,
Mike

We know it will be published in the fall (this was shared at the Cussler convention last October) and that the main characters will be Dirk Sr. and Al and not the kids this time (that was shared by Dirk himself in a recent Q&A on the Simon & Shuster Discussion Board). That's all we know at this point.

Welcome to the forum, Mike! I'm waiting for the new one to come out, too, and hope it really does focus more on Dirk and AL. w:

It sounds like the Cusslers are truly in touch with their fan base. If they were at some point worried that Dirk and Al's age might present a problem to fans and that they had to intruduce a younger set to sideline them, I say forget it! Keep Dirk and Al on the frontline for years to come while slowly working Dirk jr. Jack and Summer into the mix. If in 10 years or so from now, Dirk and Al are still kicking bad guy's butts, I for one am not going to complain their "over the hill".
Until this new book comes out, I guess I'll have to re-read some of the old Pitt adventures to get my "fix".

welcome to the forums newbies !!
dradvent, either you're very excited OR something is wrong with your keyboard. It appears you caps lock button might be broken ! :P  j:
Great news on the new adventures of Dirk and Al.
Dirk Jnr and Summer are too young (in my opinion) to go upa against the "bad guys". They need to slowly earn their repuatations. So, I agree they need to be "slowly" added into the book series.

Thank you all for the news and I've now got a date to focus on. I'm psyched.

Oh man I can't wait until the next book comes out. I agree with the group that Dirk Jr. and Summer are just to young to be taking on the bad guys. They need more time working with their dad and Al to gain experience. And maybe it's time for old Al to get himself a wife and settle down, Ya right Al? Well I throw in my two cents worth.

Greeting all! I've been a member for a while, but haven't posted much. I'm delighted to see a new Pitt adventure is in the works. I agree that the transition from Dirk/Al to Dirk Jr./Summer was to sudden. Do we know when this new book might be on the shelves? Thanks.

That is good news about the book. I just wish it would come out sooner.
oswalder - January 26, 2006 12:58 AM (GMT)
Welcome to the forum HBK and JBernstein! I haven't heard when it will be out but it won't be soon enough, that's for sure. Hopefully over the summer when I will actually have time to read it, but likely not until the fall. Keep on posting!

I'm now about to begin my third reading of the Dirk Pitt series up to Trojan Odyssey. I would like to thank Mr. Cussler for allowing me to relive adventures from my youth with a friend I've had for over 30yrs, even though they are no where near as exciting as Dirk and Al's, but treasured moments all the same. Actually, if young Dirk and Summer give their "old man", as much grief as Dirk did his dad, I'd say its come full circle.
I truly believe what I'd heard about a Clive Cussler book, even before I read it.
"A Clive Cussler book is like a visit from an old friend."
That is how I feel when I pick one up whether it's a Dirk Pitt, Kurt Austin or Jaun Cabrillo.
Best of luck in the future Clive to you and your family.
Bo

Hi! It's been a while since I've written but I've been reading as faithfully as time will allow. Question--did I miss the title of the new Dirk Pitt book?
