Hey, Bigbluewreckingcrew. w: As far as I know, nothing has been said about a second movie. With Clive being so upset about Sahara, I figure it doesn't look too good. But on the other hand, we DO know the rights to Inca Gold, Night Probe!, and...(I think there's another one but I can't remember) have been sold. <_< We also know that Matthew M. REALLY want's to make another Dirk Pitt movie, and, all the rest of the cast says their in also. So all in all....I really have no idea, but I'll tell you one thing that is for certain...MY FINGERS ARE CROSSED :) ;)

Alright well here goes my opinion. Sahara was my favorite of Cussler's books. So you might imagine that i was angry about the film and how it turned out. However, i for one loved the movie. It was action packed and entertaining every step of the way. The problem was that Sahara is one of clives longer books. It also has alot going on it it. When i am at work i like to listen to audiobooks, due to the fact that i am a data entry person. I download or buy as many clive books as I can. I downloaded a four and a half hour abridged version of Sahara that i thought was done incredibly well. The problem is that the normal unabridged version lasts more along the lines of 16-18 hours. So even with all that cutting, the story stayed intact. The proble with movies are that they are usaully 2 hours long. If the movie could have followed the same abridged audiobook that i listened to, then i don;t think anyone, including Clive would be upset or feel let down by it at all. It's just impossible to do, only us diehard Clive fans would sit inthe theater for 4 and a half hours, and even then some wouldn't. So in my opinion, I say keep the movies coming, if for no other reason as displaying clives genius and Dirks bravery to a whole new audience that would have never known of either before the movies.
