Title: Sahara most successful movie?
Description: Beats up the other summer blockbusters

In retrospect, although Sahara wasn't as big as indiana jones it still made reasonable money in a bad year for action movies. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it made about the same amount at the BO as Stealth, XXX2 and The Island combined. All of these were expected to be big movies and were hyped to the max, unlike Sahara which kind of went out quietly in the early seaon.

By the way, I loved the movie. It may not be ultra faithful to the book, but I think it stands on it's own merits and was an entertaining ride with good humour and great characters (well done to MM and Zahn).

welcome, justreeve. Can't argue with any of your logic. It was the year of mediocre action films - you hit that on the nail!! It's just too bad Sahara wasn't a bigger hit, though. Who knows, maybe if they had bit the bullet and worked with Clive on a reasonable script it might have been. But we'll never know.

Now the fate of it and any future films lay in the hands of a LA district court come March.

'05 Was disappointing in action flix (including Sahara). Hopefully '06 will be better. p:

I certainly hope that the legal wrangling doesn't prevent another movie being made as I would like to see Matthew and Steve back as Dirk and Al - although I'm not terribly convinced by the on-screen Rudi Gunn! (If Rudi was real, he could probably sue for defamation of character!)

Haha!! I agree with your opinion of Rudi! I loved the movie and hope that they will be able to make more (of course I would hope they are closer to the book than Sahara was...) But I'm so glad that they at least made Sahara.
