Does anyone know of sequel plans??
Dear_Heart05 - June 2, 2006 11:04 PM (GMT)
Well, there hasn't been any new news in a looooong time, so their either keeping it real quiet, or nothing's happening. As for me, my fingers have been crossed for so long... I couldn't get them uncrossed even if I wanted to!

In this day of age where movies butcher books, I thought that Sahara was quite good. My family and I are avid readers and all loved this film.
McConaughey co produced this film and I thought was great in the role. I am excited about him in the next role of Dirk Pitt.
I too would hope Inca Gold would be made, I hope I won't have to wait long.
In the mean time I guess I will just be a book worm for Clive. :)

Agreed. Sahara, while not an exact adaptation, was still a great start to what will hopefully be an awesome Dirk Pitt franchise. McConaughey and Zhan were perfect as Dirk and Al, Macy was Sandecker (minus beard, but that's ok), and the movie got me into the books.
Besides, I was watching the movie with the commentary on, and you could tell McConaughey was actually a fan of the books. I think that's a good choice for a producer and star of the series, don't you?

Based on what I've heard about how the production/writing was handled and how the lawsuit is going, I'm taking the approach where I don't expect another Dirk Pitt movie until Matthew McConaughey is old enough to play Senator George Pitt. This way, IF they make another one sooner, I will be pleasantly surprised.

Yes I thought McConaughy was a very good Dirk. And it is wise to not expect another for awhile but I am hopeful all will go well and both Cussler and the producers can come to an agreement SOON!

It is unfortunate that they just could not accept the changes Clive wanted for the film. I imagine that the film was the last thing Clive had on his mind with the passing of Barbara. Out of respect they could have just done what he told them.
Of all the people involved, I think Matthew McWhatsHisFace actually wanted to make a good Dirk Pitt Moovie. At least that's the impression I got from the things he says. He talks about meeting with Clive and assuring Clive that he could have black hair and green eyes.
As it stands: The film only partially resembles only once facet of the many layers of the book. Clive writes in several - I don;t know if Layers is the word... Levels, compartments: But he always brings everythign to a blistering head for a mindblowing conclusion.
Clive has never failed to kick my pants off, and movies made based on Pitt should kick me square in the face and other sensitive parts of my anatomy.
If they ever make a GOOD Dirk Pitt moovie I will stop drinking Pancho Villa Tequila!
