David, Addy and I just got back from Mardi Gras in New Orleans and what an emotional time it was!!!! The most amzing part for us was that Glad Trash bags sponsered the clean up and handed out garbage bags to everyone on the parade route. After every parade hundreds of were out on the street cleaning up the trash and it felt really good to do it.
Sean provided us with pictures of the devastation in New Orleans proper but here is one picture that I took of a house on the North Shore (Mandeville) which is across the Ponchatrain (26 miles) from New Orleans that had one tree fall on it, ONE TREE!!!!!!!! 6 months later this what the house still looks like, yes this was one house, not two.
I'm glad you had a good time over there, Julie. I really don't think people realize how much work is left to be done. Some of the grads in my program are doing a service trip down there this week for Spring Break, but west of New Orleans in Lafayette, LA. They should be en route somewhere in Indiana right now.
Wow Julie, I hope the owners weren't in the house when that happened :o ...that must have been one BIG tree. Im glad you had a good time and got home safely. b:
