For more than a year, over 400 copies of the Clive Cussler Code have been read by avid Cussler fans. Most of the feedback asks the authors the question of whether the contents are based on fact or supposition. After uncovering an interview with Clive Cussler back in 1986, we can now point to a statement Clive Cussler made in the interview that reveals the truth of the Code.
We don't want to divulge the contents of the Code to those who have not read it, but for those of you that have, the following statement made by Clive Cussler in response to a question by Don Swaim in 1986 will cement the fact that the original Dirk Pitt and the Admiral in Pacific Vortex were not the characters we know them as today.

The statement above concurs with the revelations in the Clive Cussler Code that the original Dirk Pitt was never part of NUMA in the original 1965 manuscript of Pacific Vortex before it was rewritten and finally published in 1982. The Code's careful research reveals the real Dirk Pitt and many more NUMA characters before Clive Cussler rewrote his very first novel, Pacific Vortex.
