I picked up Black Wind a few weeks ago...what made the opening chapter all the more real was the fact I bought the book in the city of Kokura, the day before the train ride to Kyoto. There I was, reading about the sub sneaking out of Japan...while on a bullet train travelling under the Seto Inland Sea!
I've been reading CC since '89 and anxiously await each new Dirk/Kurt novel...

The coolest thing like that to ever happen to me was flying over Iceland and Greenland while reading Iceburg. :P But you were actually THERE! Thats so cool!
