I believe they were born sometime around 1979, 1980 or 1981 according to Clive's timeline. In the timeline of my fanfiction I have Dirk Sr. born in 1950 and believe that Summer and Dirk Jr. were born between 1973 to 1977.

Which timeline do you mean?

I'm having difficulty figuring out when they twins were conceived.
The first time they meet she passes out and then escapes thru a bathroom window.
Then, later in the cave, he passes out, wakes up, escapes from the collapsing cave. snor:

Cussler has admitted that he made a mistake there. The opportunity to create the twins never happened. We'll write it off to creative license. :P

Well here's my idea...We get introduced to them at the twine at the end of Valhalla Rising(Aug. 2003). We learn that they are one or two years out of their respective colleges. So they must be around 22 or 23 when we meet them in V.R. That means they were born sometime around 1980 with a deviation of 2 years. p:

Although Clive admits his mistake, there might have been 2 opportunities for the impregnation:

* The first time they meet, Dirk knocks Summer out. When she wakes up in his room they talk about what might have happened. Dirk tells her that he has searched her body. Eventually the remark is made that Dirk is too much a gentleman (or something) to make advantage of a woman. As a reader we know that it's true. But is it really? Maybe he did abuse the unconscious Summer? <_< ;)

* In the cave, Dirk passes out when Summer is lying naked on her bed. Maybe he had just a black out and he didn't remember having sex with Summer? Or worse, maybe Summer abused Dirk? j:

That are possibilities! :)
