The model they made for the Titanic is actually quite a nice piece of work, which you can sort of see in these pics... And I seem to recall a few years back someone made a model of that model, but damned if I can find it online again!!

edit:Found it...HERE...

Go onto Gabe's website www.raisethetitanic.com. He's got disturbing pics of the condition of the model. BE PREPARED: The following images you will see on that site are gruesome indeed. PARENTAL DISCRETION IS ADVISED:)

Wow. The model has really fallen apart in recent years. If those photos were from 1990, it's likely all but gone now. The picture with the model painted as the Brittanic is especially interesting.

We should've tried to preserve that model. It's such a bloody wreck now.

Incredible detail went into that model.

Nice pic. Really gives a sense of scale to the model not readily apparent in other pictures! th:

I seem to recall there being more debris on the Titanic when it came up. I'll have to suffer through the movie again and look.

Even how big of a fan I am of Cussler. I would never waste my money on RTT. I've never even seen the movie and I don't plan to from everything i've hear about it.

no, no, no; you can't think that way. You must see the film once just to see how not to make a movie and to better understand Mr. Cussler's reluctance to ever have another one of his books done into film. th:

But those are just other people's opinions, you might like it, you gotta watch it to make sure ;)

In my opinion anyhow :)

It almost brings a tear to the eye seeing such a beautiful model rusting away.

Yeah, that particular picture says it all. Maybe we should launch a "Raise the Titanic" salvage operation of our very own. Raise enough funds to send a team to where it lies and retrieve whats left. ;)

Great Idea! Where would we put it? Doese any one have an aircraft hanger to store it in? Wish I did. t:

good or bad no Cussler collection should be complete with out it. No one said your had to watch it. t:

Giordino13 - March 19, 2005 08:23 PM (GMT)
I can see why Cussler would hate it

rowan - March 24, 2005 08:26 AM (GMT)
Does anyone know where the model is? And is that Julie's back yard? Or Liz?

Ta16uva - March 24, 2005 02:19 PM (GMT)
Hmm...seems to me that Dirk Pitt in Raise the Titanic actually looks a lot like Obi-Wan Kenobi in the new Star Wars movies.

oswalder - March 24, 2005 04:55 PM (GMT)
Seems to me that Dirk doesn't have a full beard in the books. I know in Shock Wave he had to shave extra close because the group of people he was trying to blend in with "don't have five o'clock shadows.' It really bothers me when movies don't even get the easy details right (like DP with a full beard or SZ with blonde hair).

Ta16uva - March 25, 2005 01:41 AM (GMT)
I couldn't imagine Pitt with a beard...it wouldn't be him.
